This diverter valve assembly is sourced from the original manufacturer for use in dishwashers. The assembly controls the flow of water between different parts of the appliance. It directs water to either the upper or lower spray arms during different stages of the wash cycle, ensuring efficient cleaning of dishes throughout the dishwasher. The valve may become damaged or worn down over time due to frequent use and exposure to heat and chemicals. If the assembly is faulty, you will likely notice leaking from under the door and less water reaching the spray arms. It is best to replace the assembly promptly to avoid further damage to the dishwasher.

Water leak, no power, shorted control motherboard, diverter passive main assembly rubber hose had hole in it.
repair under warranty for Home Depot. Ordered new controller, new sump manifold, new piranh clamp kit, new diverter passive main assy, installation took 6 months. Could not finish as GE had changed the diverter to a new design with the same part number that the repairman had no knowledge of and there is no part available for the same configuration of the one that went bad, after I called GE tech line they were not aware of updates. Giving me the same numbers. The new design works if you order a new conduit main. As the old one in the dishwasher will not connect to the new Diverter. New deverter no. WD19X25278 and the new main conduit is the same as the old configuration no.WD12X21681 . The repair people and parts people are not yet aware of the design change and availability of parts, as most are out of stock and no updated pictures of the new design. Repair warranty washed their hands of this and Home Depot after 6 months gave me credit of my full price I bought this for 3 yrs ago. Repairing myself and sell. Read more...

This detergent dispenser assembly is attached to the inner door panel of a dishwasher. This part holds detergent and dishwasher rinse products in a covered container. If your dispenser will not open, close, dispense detergent properly, or the dishes are coming out of the dishwasher dirty, replacing this part can solve these problems. The tools needed for this installation project are a #2 Phillips screwdriver and needle-nose pliers. To repair, first remove screws from the bottom of the inner door panel. Next, remove connecters, wires, and screws from the dispenser to access it and replace with new dispenser. Refer to the manual provided by the manufacturer for further installation instructions and guidance. Unplug dishwasher from power source as a safety precaution.

soap door latch broken, wouldn't hold soap for later release in middle of cycle like it was supposed to.
Turned off power to unit, 'cuz it has a solenoid lead to open the soap door.
Removed the phillips head screws that held the door together. The screw are located on the inside edge of the door, there are 10-12 of them.
Spearated the door shells carefully, trying not to disturb the location of the wiring in the middle of the door.

Found the 4 screws that hold the module assembly to the door from the inside, and removed them.
Popped the assembly out, cleaned the gasket-seat area and placed the new one in place.
Carefully tightened the 4 screws. It is easy to over-tighten them, so only turn them until you feel they are snug. Let the gasket do the work.
Attached the two solenoid control wires in the same positions they were in before they were removed from the old assembly.
Re-assembled the door halves, again taking care to not over-tighten the phillips-head screws. One got "spun" and I removed it and re-set it into some epoxy.
Returned power to the dishwasher, and stopped washing dishes by hand.
Note: the latch is now made with a plastic that is more dense, and likely will not fail as soon as the original one did. I think GE learned something about the durability of their component plastics since this was originally built.

Detergent Cup would not latch closed
I ordered parts before opening. My theory was to have the parts so that the dishwasher was not apart for longer than necessary, in the hope of avoiding the wrath of momma bear who just wants a new one... Once I opened up the door I realized the spring for the main lever arm had broken its mount. I drilled a new hole and reattached the spring. I did not need any parts. However, the original parts corresponding to the three parts I ordered were all beat up and brittle, so I was happy to replace anyway. I did not even explain, she is happy the cup looks new and is happy with the dishwasher. It even says Cascade on it, almost like an upgrade :). If your cup does not latch I would order the three parts I did and also order the lever spring. It was very corroded after 30 years, so I would have replaced if I purchased it. Next time.. :) Read more...

Detergent Dispenser Door Would Not Stay Closed
Completely remove the door from the dishwasher - It's easier to work on this way.

First the spring tension is NOT that critical - the spring just needs to not be mangled and really out of shape. Unless someone has taken a pair of pliers to it, it should be o-k
to use. I even mangled up the slot in the lever with a pair of pliers to try and jeery-rig it and it still works fine - you MUST at least have some resemblance of a groove here for the spring to
catch.
1) hook the hook on the inside of the lever where the slanted groove is on the cam. (see your great diagram)

Put all the pieces together at this point, shaft, spring and lever

2) There are two sets of grooves that correspond to matching notches in both the lever and the dispenser shaft. Make sure these match up to one another.
3) Using a pair of hemostats or tiny pliers pull the other side of the spring clockwise - gently - until you can hook it on the stop that is on the inside door. There will be some
tension of the spring around the shaft to cause the hook to engage to the slot in the plastic lever.

[*]This is where MOST of my problems were at:

4) Test the dispenser door to make sure when you close it, it springs back up. It WILL NOT hold when the door is off.
[*][I was trying to get the dispenser door to stay shut while the door was removed from the washer - this will NOT happen]
5) If number four is happening above, attach the door to the dishwasher.

Very Important: The door will only stay closed when the dishwasher is in the OFF position. Otherwise it will spring open when you try to shut it, because it is suppose to because at this time
in the cycle the detergent would be dispensing - hence the door being OPEN and the door not latching.

General Electric Dishwasher Detergent Cup Release Arm
PartSelect Number PS1765980
Manufacturer Part Number WD16X10011
This is the replacement detergent cup release arm for your dishwasher. It is made of black plastic and is sold individually. The detergent cup release arm is found on the inside of the dishwasher door, and it is the part that releases both the detergent and the rinse-aid. If the rinse-aid and detergent are not being released during the dishwasher cycle, or you notice that the release arm is cracked or damaged, then you will need to replace it. A damaged detergent cup release arm can also lead to a door latch failure on your dishwasher, and it may cause the dishwasher not to start. This is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer.
