Door panels and trim damaged by power wheelchair
I removed the four screws, two at the bottom and two at the top, of the lower access panel and removed the broken assembly. I removed the piece of rubber trim from the bottom of the door panel (unsnaps from it's channel). I pried off the damaged bright trim from the left side of the door, scraping off most of the glue residue with a knife and finally cleaning the rest with solvent. I cut the new piece of bright trim to fit with siscors and pressed it in place. I used the remainder of the new trim and a piece cut from the old damaged trim previously removed to trim the lower access panel. I carefully removed the insulation from the old access panel and installed it in the new access panel with double sided tape. I followed the instructions that came with the new panels and installed them in the door and access panels. I reinstalled the rubber trim in the bottom chanel of the door. I moved the other parts from the old access panel to the new access panel and reinstalled the new access panel assembly with the four screws removed earlier. Whirlpool Dishwasher ACCESS PANEL (BLACK)
I had to unplug an electronic tape from the inside of the beige control panel and plug the same tape back into the black control panel. I also had to remove the beige handle that was on the inside of the control panel, attached to the door, and replace it with the new black one I'd received. I then installed the black control panel and reattached it with screws and finished replacing the rest of the screws I had removed from the inside of the door.
I tested the handle to make sure it opened the door and locked it like it should and then went outside and turned the breaker back on. Came in and turned on the dishwasher and did a load of dishes. It looks awesome, matches the rest of my black appliances and I am very proud to have done it myself. I also wanted to thank the customer service lady who was so great to work with on the phone. I would shop with you again. Read more...

Wanted to change beige dishwasher front to black.
First , I went outside and turned the breaker for the dishwasher off. Next,I removed the screws that held the bottom 2 pieces, that rest on the floo,r in place. Then removed the two beige metal pcs. . Next I replaced them with the 2 black pieces I had ordered and secured them with the 2 black screws I had received as part of my order. Then I removed the scews from the inside of the door of my KitchenAid Dishwasher. This released both the front bottom panel and the control panel. . I took the beige bottom door panel off and moved the insulation piece from the back of thebeige panel to the back of the black panel. Then I intalled the new black panel I ordered and resecured it with two screws until I had finished with the control panel switch out.I had to unplug an electronic tape from the inside of the beige control panel and plug the same tape back into the black control panel. I also had to remove the beige handle that was on the inside of the control panel, attached to the door, and replace it with the new black one I'd received. I then installed the black control panel and reattached it with screws and finished replacing the rest of the screws I had removed from the inside of the door.

Installation Instructions

Control panel buttons were worn out, circuit board shorted out
Turned off the power at the breaker; took the screws out of the door panel; the control panel was already loose; I took the lock mechanism off the panel, and then removed the electric bundle panel from the control panel; the only thing left was the cicuit board, which I removed, and the wires to it were in a clip all together; I clipped the wires to the new cicuit board, replaced it in the panel slot, then clipped in the wire bundle; the lock mechanism fit right where it was supposed to, then I replaced all the screws in the door panel , starting at the top where the control panel was; I turned the power back on, then turned on the dishwasher- it worked just like new. This was a fairly easy fix for about $150; that would have been the service charge and time alone for a repairman, not including the marked up price of the parts. PartSelect was a lifesaver.
