An extension spring is designed to add tension and resistance to different components throughout lawn and garden equipment. This extension spring, also known as an idler spring, is designed for use with the auger within different makes of various lawn and garden equipment like lawnmowers and snowblowers. This spring is approximately 2.5-inches long when completely wound and is made of high-quality metal. If you notice that the lever that connects to the auger is loose or has significantly less tension than normal, this spring could be broken or have lost its level of tension, meaning it needs replacing. To replace this spring, you may need a set of pliers, but you simply remove the frame cover over the spring, pull it away from the auger, and carefully pull it off. Then, simply replace that old spring with the new spring.
