GTW220ACK2WW General Electric Washer - Instructions

The parts I ordered were made of junk plastic and did not match up with the the existing parts. The parts did not end up fixing the problem and I bought a new washer instead.

Waste of money

Two screws to take off rear panel. Slid control panel board back to unlock and laid forward. Exposed two more screws holding in water inlet. Removed and slid old water inlet out, new water inlet in. Attached two screws, control panel and rear panel and works perfectly. So much easier than I imagined!

Being a woman I had to figure out tipping it in its front. I put it on a dollie and drop it down real easy.
Removed all water lines after water was shut off.
Removed bolts. Removed bolts on plate to the right to unplug old pump.
Plugged in new one and replaced all bolts, hoses and tipped her back up. Works like a charm and I saved $408 by doing it myself!!!!!

Replaced water pump. Washer now works as new.
Wife is now happy!

1. Unplug washer.
2. Turn off water and disconnect hoses.
3. Remove control panel and set aside. It's held in place by 2 screws on the back.
4. Remove 2 screws to remove water inlet valve assembly.
5. Replace in reverse order.

I ordered a drive belt later to go with this repair which I wish I had done when I ordered the speed sensor and saved shipping. I think that was the real culprit. I had get customer service to help me with the part number because it wasn't listed on the parts list.

I set washer to drain and spin empty to get as much water out as possible. Tilted washer on its side on top of two thick cushions so was about a 15 degree angle off the floor and didn't spill leftover water in the drum.
I took the protective cover off using socket wrench for the 3 bolts. There was belt shreds all over the bottom. Took off smaller drive wheel with socket wrench in order to get to speed sensor. Speed sensor is connected on the motor frame. I used two small flathead screwdrivers in the slots to unsnap the old part. Cleaned off belt debris. Connected the new speed sensor wires first then should click into place. Put drive wheel back on. Put new belt on small drive wheel and lined up grooves. Note that the new drive belt will be smaller than the old one. I found the easiest way to get the new belt on is to hold it on the small wheel and start wrapping the belt on one side of the large wheel and rotating the wheels which is going to turn the drum. Sort of how you would rechain a bike which shows my age!
Put protective cover back on.

The last thing I did was since I had access to the bottom of the drum was to clean out the pressure line port which can lead to spin issues. It is about half an arms length up the side of drum above the drain hose. Its a small gray tubing attached to the drum. Pull the tubing off and it reveals a little port that can get clogged. Use your1/16th drill bit and put in the port about an inch to inch and half and clear out the port. Re-attach the hose firmly.

Machine working as good as new and clothes are almost bone dry now!

1 Disconnect power 2) Cut water supply to washer 3) Disconnect water supply hoses from supply.
***if pump broke with water in tub, remove water from tub. 4) tip machine onto it's front side 5) remove hose clamp of exhaust hose & then remove exhaust hose from pump 6) Remove pump with socket/ratchet 7) disconnect pump electrical plug 8) tell old pump to take a hike & throw in garbage 9)Iinstall new pump 10) Do steps 7—1 in reverse order to put back into business.******Be prepared to do it again in 6 months; I havnt had good luck!

Emptied the washer, took the back cover off, tipped it foward, unplugge the old pump, remove two mount bolts. The replaced the new pump. The new pump resolved the issue.

Open up the top of the washer per instructions. Remove the old switch and wiring harness. Install the new wiring harness and switch. The instructions that were provided are very descriptive so the installation went flawlessly. The switch has been redesigned and looks to be more robust than the original. The washer now works like new.

Took the belt cover and then replaced the pump. Did a dry run and everything was fine.

Took 4 screws out of back of control panel. Tested old capacitor. Installed new one. Put back on tested spin cycle everything is doing great

Removed the top assembly where the controls are located by removing the two mounting screws, one on each side. Removed the two hoses. Removed the two mounting screws, Removed old part, installed new part in reverse order.

The drain pump had three screws. Frist unplug the machine and turn the water off. And unplug the hose for the Hot and Clod Water. Make sure their no water in the tub. Unplug the pipe from the Tub. The unscrew the nut for the connector. Then unplug the connector and be careful not to damage plug for the connector. Press the plug connector with your finger or long nose pliers . Then just hook the new plumb and you all set.

Disconnect water lines.
Remove top control panel.
Remove 2 screws & disconnect wires & replace old for new

Unplug machine
Move machine out from wall
Removed 4 screws on back plate
Removed the 2 screws holding the assembly to washer
Pulled old unit out and reversed process to put back together

But when I went to test it would not drain tipped washer up and removed hose from motor and found a sock inside
Remove sock and washer runs great.
