CTS17RBSERWW General Electric Refrigerator - Instructions

First I observe that the compressor motor is running since the freezer is cooling. The purchase of the condenser fan is initiated and when the part arrive it is just easy to reinstall the replacement condenser fan.

The problem on the front of the freezer door remains hot to touch and the compressor runs for a while and stop. The freezer is cold but still could not freeze the water. Inspection of the condenser fan reveals that it is not running. The order for the condenser fan from PARTSELECT came in a few days. Cleaning of the condenser of lint was first done and the process of removing the defective fan is just easy so with the installation.

The refrigerator as of now is running in perfect condition!

Ordered the frame and put it in.

Open freezer, remove rack....this got a little complicated because I had to remove the door, that required the offset screwdriver because I had a clearance issues preventing the door from opening all the way. Remove the panel covering the fan, unplug the fan, remove it from bracket, install new fan, plug in, replace panel, replace rack, replace door...bam all done!

Was only two screws after that carefully took the part away unplugging the wires at the same time was plugging in to the new part and was done after 5 or 7 min

Went right on

Removed and replaced

I popped out the old plastic shelf and slid in the new one. It was self explanatory and took less than one minute with no tools.

Removed the cracked rails in the door and snapped the new ones into place.

Turned off the breaker to the fridge because I couldn't reach the power plug to unplug it . Use small flat head screwdriver to pop out the piece, disconnected the rubber prong connectors, inserted the new piece into the rubber prongs snapped it back into place. Flipped the breaker back on and prayed it worked. It did and I saved myself $120 service call.

I watched the video online, followed the instructions and within minutes had the part installed. The frig light was working once again! I will say the original switch was very snug and I had to do some very minor scraping of the plastic to get the new part to slide in.

1 unplug the appliance
2. remove the rear cardboard cover, giving access to the compressor and condenser area
3. remove the two (condenser motor bracket) mounting screws, then with the motor assembly in your hand remove the the fan blade which is friction mounted to the motor shaft( note the exact position of the fan blade on the motor shaft so you can replace it in the same position when you reassemble), remove the two wires connected to the motor. Also remove the rubber resilient mounting grommets on the motor mount frame as these can harden with age and cause excessive vibration.
4 install the new motor into the mounting frame with the new grommets
5 reconnect the two wires to the new motor (non polarized)
6 secure the mounting frame (with the installed new motor) back in place
7 slide the fan blade onto the new motor shaft
8 screw the rear access panel back in place
plug in the refrigerator. the next time the compressor and condenser fan cycle on, verify operation of the new condenser fan motor

Watched your repair video online. appeared very simple and straight forward. Order the parts in question. They were shipped quickly. Once parts in hand watched video again and then installed new motor and blade in less than ten minutes. Plug power back in and and new part works perfectly. Started removing screws until I got to the fan (it's easy). Then just took out the old fan and put the new one back in the same way. The only challenging part was putting the clamp back on the fan, but I finally got it. The fridge is finally quiet and we can sleep again! First I removed the ice tray rack lifting it out of the way to reach the back cover of the fan. Then, the whole back inside panel had to be removed. Two screws removed the fan and bracket from the freezer unit. The missing bumper lid just snapped into place. Replaced everything in reverse order. Pretty easy job.
