If your door hinge is bent or broken and not allowing the door to shut properly, this hinge needs to be replaced immediately. Replacing this hinge will require a screwdriver to remove and install. This door hinge is an OEM part made of durable metal, and does not come with any other parts, like the necessary securing screws or install bracket.

One of the hinges broke, making the door sag
Using the Torx Screwdriver, we removed the door from the unit. Then we removed all of the screws on the inside of the washer door. After that we flipped it over and opened it up exposing the inside. We couldn't separate them entirely because there was a screw under the latch piece that we couldn't figure out how to get to. However with all the screws out on the inside of the door, we did have enough room to open it up and access the place cover that holds the hinges in. Once we accessed that we removed the roller tips from the old unit and placed them on the new one. Then we reversed the process. With a couple screws in we realized we had put the hinge in reversed from what it needed to be, so we reopened it and switched it around. Then completed replacing all the screws and reattached it to the washer. It opens and closes perfectly and we saved a couple hundred dollars for sure, as the quote to come out had been a $150 trip charge.

John from SAN JOSE, CA
The right side hinge that holds the washer top door broke and needed to be replaced.
Popped out the plastic "doors" that cover the metal actuators. Removed the metal actuators on both right and left sides of the door then unscrewed (3 screws each actuator) them from door frame. Slid the actuators out to enable the door to be removed. Unscrewed 2 screws on the top front of the washer which enabled me to angle the top of the washer to expose the screws that hold the plastic hinges. Unscrewed the hinges (2 screws each) and replaced both of the hinges (I figured I'd do both of them now so I don't have to do it again for another 15 years). Put everything back together and all works like new.

I used a flat screw driver to push in on the releases so I could raise the top of the machine. I then used a torx tool to remove both parts of the hinge, and then used a #2 phillips screw driver, on the new screws I'd also ordered, to re-attach both of the hinge parts. Every thing went just as anticipated.

Noise and vibration when spinning
Used a video to explain how to do repair. Video showed about 1 1/2 hours, took probably 4 hours at least. Bearings were very difficult to remove and were in very bad shape for a 4 1/2 year old washer. We were very lucky and did not have a spider that needed to be replaced. All and all not to bad of a repair, but without the video we found it would have been a guessing game of how to do the repair. Parts all worked well and the washer is now quiet as a mouse in the spin mode. Spending $200.00 instead of a new washer was the goal and it was completed. Here's hoping to more than 4 additional years before another repair is required.
