Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
NOTE: The charcoal filter cannot be cleaned. It must be replaced. This metallic vent hood filter collects grease particles in the air from cooking.
How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

The exact part I wanted.
The filter was identical to the filter replacement sold by GE. One has to be careful ordering this part because there are numerous inexpensive, but low quality options, sold as replacement charcoal filters for GE's over the range microwave with indoor venting.

Easy install, but.....
Disappointed in the condition of this part. It appeared to be usable but the metal frame was rusty in several places. Now I wonder about the effectiveness of the filter medium.

charcoal filter for microwave
The replacement was easy. Your product arrived with rust on the bottom. Not good for a $40+ item. My request is you send me a new charcoal filter without rust at no charge.
The decision is yours.

I was receiving message that charcoal filter needed replacing
I finally found the two screws to remove the fan opening. Once I did that I did not locate an OLD charcoal filter!! I just deducted there was never one in there, based on where the instructions said it should be located. I placed the new filter and let it "rest on an angle" as per the instructions I read from the diagram, and from the

Past time to replace
I unscrewed two screws on top of the microwave, slid the part (which opens when the microwave is in use) to the left and put it aside. The old filter is then easily picked up and removed. I placed the new filter in the same spot. I repositioned the removed part in place, lining up the little tabs, slid it to the right, which automatical

getting to the charcoal filter
Follow directions in the manuel, but getting the grill off to get to the where the filter goes was very difficult, the springs kept poping around. Finally got together. This is the 2nd time I have replaced this grill, don't remember it being this difficult before.
It was very easy to remove the old charcoal filter and insert the new charcoal filter(had done it before with with the replacement filter GE had included with the purchase).

I wish to install charcoal filter kit, will it be easy and install instruction?
For model number PVM1870SM3SS
Hi Yim, Thank you for the question. At the top of the vent grill, there will be 2 screws holding it in place. Remove the screws and pop the vent grill off. The filter just slips in place. This should be a pretty easy job. Good luck !

I have a GE Adora Microwave that's built in and is vented. It doesn't have a charcoal filter but I am getting an error message to install one. Does this type installation need a that filter? The Grille Cover has some broken parts and is being held on by one screw so I figure I'll have to replace that to if I put a filter in.
For model number DVM 1850 SM 3SS
Hi Robert, thank you for contacting us. According to our research, we would recommend replacing the vent grille, part number PS5135597. If the issue still occurs, then you may need to replace the charcoal filter, part number PS224009. We hope this helps!
To whom it may concern, i see 2 filters under the microwave. Do i need to order 2 charcoal filters or do they ship 2 per order? Thank you,
For model number JMV1540SM4SS

How do I replace charcoal filter on this microwave model. It does not have a grill on top but a flap that tilts forward. I would appreciate your advise. Thank you.
For model number JVM1870SK03
Hi Elisabeth,
Thank you for your question. That would be your grille actually. There should be a couple of screws on the top of that grille that you can remove to then get to the smaller metal grille behind it and replace the charcoal filter. It looks like we have answered this question previously as well: "At the top of the vent grill, there will be 2 screws holding it in place. Remove the screws and pop the vent grill off. The filter just slips in place.". Customers have also written in with how they have installed the part, if you would like you can look at that information underneath your charcoal filter part information. Just scroll down passed the questions and you will see the installation instructions from other customers. Good luck with your repair.

Hello Patricia, thank you for your question. The grease filter is PartSelect Number: PS952418 and that is the filter that is under the unit. The charcoal filter, PartSelect Number: PS224009, is located behind the vent grill. I hope this helps!
