Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This surface burner switch, also known as an infinite switch, controls and regulates the heat output of the burners on a stovetop. The user simply adjusts the knob on the user interface panel, which in turn controls this switch. Made for various ranges, wall ovens and cooktops, this is a genuine OEM part that comes by itself, without any hardware like screws or nuts. This burner switch is an electrical component that you also handle directly, so it can become faulty leading to problems like your stovetop not heating enough, overheating or staying at a fixed heat. This burner switch is a vital component for your stovetop and if it presents any of those issues, it needs to be replaced immediately. A screwdriver, set of pliers and wiring diagram will be needed for the replacement and installation process, and you will need to remove your appliance from the wall outlet first. Remove the knobs from the control panel and then gain access to the underneath portion of it with your screwdriver and disconnect the switch. Remove the wires from the burner switch with a set of pliers and disconnect the securing screws holding the switch in place. Now, you can install the new switch and reassemble the panel, being mindful of wiring each connector to the appropriate wire.
How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money

Perfect
The switch looks different than the original. And just plugged terminals to same letter designations and one had left over and plugged it to the only pin left and it works flawlessly.

both burner switches failed intrenally
simply remove and replace th switches using a screw driver an a pair of needle nose pliers
The 6in burner would go to max heat regardless of the setting.
Un screwed the two screws in the downdraft section enough to release the unit that holds the surface burner controls. Then removed the control nob, unscrewed the two screws that holds the switch in the unit, removed the wires, making sure the color of the wires were placed on the same contact point. Put it back together and it worked

Burnt out oven element, faulty surface burner switch
As an arthritic 83 yr old I had a little trouble removing the two screws holding old element but with penetrating oil and channel locks on the screwdriver for leverage that problem was solved. Installation of new element was a snap, a matter of minutes to connect the element spades to the wire contacts and relace the two screws holding th

To remove the old switch I removed the four screws holding the control panel (Oven door must be open to get at screws)Removing the old switch took a few more minutes as with age of the unit the male spade contacts of the switch were tight on the female wire contacts and I carefully used needle nose pliers to free them. I quickly learned not to remove the two screws holding the switch to the panel until the switch spades were free from the female wire contacts. Installation of the new switch was easy. I replaced the panel with four screws, checked everything, reset the circuit breaker and I was back in business.
Replaced one of the four burner control switches on my Jennair cooktop. One of the tricks I use to prevent mistakes is putting the new switch along side the existing one and swap one connector at a time over to the new switch preventing any confusion and negating any need to mark the wires. This differs from your video assistant who disco

Infinite switch malfuctioning and indicator light not working.
I changed out the infinite switch without any problems. The indicator light was another problem. It wasn't the light that was bad, it was the indicator light lens that snaps into the panel. My oven works, but the self cleaning process .Doesn't work. I don't know what part needs to be replaced. I set all the controls as shown in the manual. The door locks and the fans turn on but the oven doesn't heat . The door stays locked, and the fans continue to run, but nothing else happens. I think it may be the temp knob needs replacing. On the back, of the knob it looks like it might be damaged. (pushed in)

Hi Vivian,
Thank you for your question. There are three parts that you will want to check. The first thing you will want to take a look at are you temperature sensor and your bake element. It does sound like those parts are working in your appliance though. So the only other part that would be the issue would be your electronic control board. I would suggest testing the other two parts just in case. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Broil element comes on no matter what you select on touch pad. Oven is always too hot.
For model number SVE47600BC
Hi Paul,
Thank you for contacting us. If the broil element comes on no matter what function you select, the issue may be with the oven sensor. The oven temperature sensor is the part that monitors the oven temperature and signals the electronic control board to turn the elements on and off. Before removing this part from the oven and testing it with a multimeter for continuity, unplug the oven from the electrical outlet. To test the sensor, you will need to reference your owner’s manual to determine what the correct reading should be for your model, as this varies from model to model. To test it for continuity, use a multimeter on the Rx1 setting and touch the terminals with the probes. This test needs to be done with the sensor at room temperature to produce accurate results. If your test results do not meet the manufacturer’s guidelines, you need a replacement temperature sensor. If the sensor is fine, you will need to check the broil element, the electronic control board and the wiring between the parts to see which one is causing the issue. We hope this helps! If you have any questions, please let us know.
I replaced the oven sensor in our JennAir stove and the temperature control resumed and cooked to temperature for 2 weeks. Now the broiler element is coming back on again and overcooking our food. Do I replace the control board now?
For model number SVE47600BC
Hello Paul, Thank you for the question. This is normally an indication the Electronic Clock Control Board is defective and may need to be replaced. We hope this helps!
Good day, it appears that both burner elements on the left side do not heat? I tested the elements themselves for continuity and they seem to be okay. The power coming in to the cooktop is fine. When i test the other side (which has a grill) it shows proper power. The element power however is low (108 v) and inconsistent when i turn the elements on. Is it possible that both switches failed at the same time? Can i swap the cartridge to the other side to see if they in fact still work? Thank you!
For model number Jenn-Air C236W-C
Hello Nick and thank you for writing.
Yes, it is possible both failed and yes you can swap them. It is the same switch for both sides. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime.

One of the burners malfunctioned (no heat, no light) . I switch out the knob but still can't turn burner on. Would replacing infinite switch cures problem?
For model number C-226
Hello Queeny, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the element and the switch that controls the element with a multi meter to check for continuity. Replace the part that tests to be defective. Hope this helps!

How do you test the Surface Burner Switch?
For model number SVE47100
Hi Michael, thank you for reaching out. To test the surface burner switch, set the multimeter range selection dial to the lowest setting for ohms of resistance. Identify the location of the switch input terminals typically labeled L1 and L2 as well as the output terminals typically labeled P, H1, and H2. Confirm the switch is in the off position. Contact the black meter lead to one of the switch input terminals and the red lead to the corresponding output terminal. If the meter display indicates close to zero ohms of resistance even when the switch is in the off position, the component has shorted. Repeat the test on the other input and output terminals to confirm whether or not a short is present and replace the switch. We hope this helps!
