KBSD708MPS01 Whirlpool Refrigerator - Instructions

Took knife and pried out the the damaged switch. Took wires off. Put the wires on the new switch and put it back in the hole. Job finished. The part shipment was very prompt and I am happy. The End!

Recently unemployed, we knew a repairman was out of the question. We opted to glue the broken tab,but I knew that would just be living a substandard rerpair so looked on line. Found our replacement part very easily and much to our surprise we had the part the next day, yes, the next day!! Looking at the new part gave us the confidence to pop out the old one without causing damage to our unit. It was a no brainer , pop out and plug in w/in 30 seconds. Small appliance repairmen are a minumum of 75.00 service fee plus parts. Our repair less than 20.00 less than 24 hrs. How good is that?

I popped the switched out depressing the underside of the switch so that it could be removed.
I ordered the part.
Paid for normal shipping.
Received an order confirmation.
Received a shipping notification.
Received the part the next morning.
Open the part and attached the wires.
Pushed the switch into the hole and the process was done in less than 24 hours. I couldn't have been more pleased. The actual installation took less than 30 seconds.

Popped old one out with knife. exchanged power leads. Popped new switch in. Make sure to unplug refrigerator before you start!

plugged the two wires in and snapped the switch into it's socket.

Used screw driver to pop out old switch. Used pliers to hold wire connection from fall back into slot on fridge. Inserted new swith into plug and pressed new switch back in place.

I had several times tried to get the old switch out but with no success. Ordered the "repair kit" and followed directions for removing old switch (there is a plastic spring clip on one side). Easy to unplug the old switch, plug the leads into the new one, snap the new one into place. Took about 5 minutes total--piece of cake. I wish I'd thought to try this years ago when the old switch began to fail.

After years of using a flash light to check the contents of my refrigerator, I decided to try to fix the problem myself. Replacing the light switch was very easy. The directions were straight forward and I'm sorry I waited so long to tackle the problem.

Super simplet to fix. Popped out broken light switch and unplugged it and replaced with new switch. The motor turned but the shaft had worn and was smooth rather than hexagon in cross-section. Part Select had the exploded view of the mechanism, which I could not find on Kitchenaid's site and I was able to order a replacement shaft, which I did and got within 3 days. I replaced the shaft without any difficulty and now I can enjoy my cocktails with ice from the in-door dispenser without sticking my hand in the ice bin. I am very pleased with Part Select, their website, their stock of parts and their efficiency.

Changed bulb, not the problem, had to remove switch to identify correct choice to order (3 pronged verus 2) after that it was easy beyond having to stand on my head to make the exchange. (N B before removing old switch it actually came back to life)
