Roper Refrigerator Ice Guide

PartSelect Number PS11739026
Manufacturer Part Number WP2180224
This is a refrigerator ice guide that is made entirely of clear plastic. This ice guide is located in the freezer door. Turn your refrigerator ice dispenser off before replacing the part. This is a simple repair, and the only tool you will need is a small flat blade screwdriver to push on the pivot tab on the bottom of the ice guide. Do not worry about breaking the side or pivot tabs on your existing ice guide because it will be discarded anyway. This is a genuine manufacturer replacement part.

External Ice Guide Broke a Tooth and Fell Off
We waited two years to do this because we didn't want to hassle with a repair man to come out and charge us arm+leg for something so simple. Finally we searched and found the part on line. It came two days FASTER than promised. Kudos to Part Select.
Snapping it on was a breeze, although you do have to apply more pressure than feels comfortable with plastic clips. We can know get ice out of the external door system again.

Kitchenaid refrigerator shelf frames were cracking, needed replacement
I had to purchase two shelves and adjustable brackets - though I only needed the slidign glass shelves . Customjer service rep was helpful and pleasant, though the replacements shelves did not bear the Kitchenaid Logo or frosted scheme on glass shelves (I requested and was informed that the replacement shelves would match my Superbra) - Otherwise, parts, when available, were shipped and arrived in well packaged boxes and not damaged. Parts were cheaper than Kitchenaid, though I would call Kitchenaid first to inquire about matching parts prior to ordering from partselect, if that matters to the buyer...Matching shelves may not in fact be available from manufacturer due to age of appliance. Water dispenser not working, Ice dispenser chute icing up
I removed the outer ice/water dispenser cover following directions I found on-line (push down and gently pry out at the bottom). I then removed several nut-head screws which were holding a plastic plate which had the door light and electric control wiring mounted in it. Behind that I found a broken tab on the Control Bracket which was why my water dispencer was not working and I found the chute door for the ice maker was chewed up which allowed warm air into the chute and was causing my ice build up problem. Replacing the Control Bracket was easy. Just note how things come apart. Putting the chute door in was a little more complicated, but again, note how things come apart and you should not have a problem putting it back together. Read more...

Replacing still working but old and stained levers
The overflow grille was no problem. It just slides out. To get to the levers, you need to remove the front cover trim. Pay attention to where everything is before you remove parts and how the wiring is set up (over or under parts). There are two slots below the trim, use your blade screw driver and pop the trim. You'll notice that the 4 buttons for ice (crush - cube) and the light (off-on) are on that panel. I don't recall well, but I believe two screws (one at each side) hold that part in place. Once loose, I flipped it up, disconnected the white multi- wire quick connector and used duck tape to tape the panel to the door and keep it out of the way. Another screw keeps the levers in their place, with a metal element. Remove it and the levers will come out. The ice guide just snaps out from two sides and a middle plastic hook of the ice dispenser lever. Replace everything in reverse order. That's about what I remember. Hope it helps. Read more...

Ice Dispenser flap would not close-delay mechanism quit working
The hardest part of this job was removing the front cover over the water and ice dispensing unit.

Step 1: remove front cover by inserting flat head screwdriver into one of small slots on the bottom side of the cover. Push up firmly, but not too hard (don't beak the plastic cover). As you are pushing up, slightly pry the bottom edge away from refrigerator door. Then, do the same for the other side.
Step 2: Now with both edges slghtly pried away for door, you will now need to use your hands and apply an upward pressure on the cover. (Understand that there are three tabs on the top side of the cover that must come about 1/4" out of slots on the top side of the door.) Try wiggling the cover, while applying upward pressure. You may find the door handle restricting one of the tabs, but you can slide the cover to the side to get it out.
Step 3: with the cover removed, now you can use the nut driver to remove the one (1) screw that holds the mechanism in place. Be sure to see how it fits over the dispensing lever.

Step 4: Install the new delay mechanism by inserting the prong over the dispensing lever and seat into place. Insert screw and tighten.
Step 5: ensure that you installed the device properly by actuating the ice dispenser. If everything is OK, proceed to next step. If not, make sure you installed it correctly.
Step 6: Reinstall front cover by insering the three upper tabs into slots at the top of the dispensing area. Apply downward pressure with your hands, then push the bottom side of the cover in. You should hear them snap into place.
Step 7: Dispense ice into a glass, add water, and enjoy your finsihed project
