Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
The locker, also knows as a door latch assembly fits to the inside of the microwave door, and keeps the door closed. If the door on your microwave oven doesn’t appear to close properly, you may have a problem with the door latch assembly. This locker is made of plastic and measures 7 inches long x 2 inches wide. If either of the hooks is broken or does not have any spring tension, you may need to replace the assembly.
How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

Microwave door would not shut completely and would not activate switches
After checking all three switches for continuity I determined that the plastic door lever had warped or gone out of wack. After shutting off power at the breaker box I removed the door, the inside trim piece around the inside of the glass. Removed the black two prong door lever, reattached the new door lever and then reinstalled the trim

The over the stove microwave door would not close.
I unplugged the microwave. I did watch a YouTube video to see how the plastic frame around the door could be removed. I used a putty knife to pry it off. The spring was still in good shape, so I hooked it up to the new latch/locker part and onto the microwave. This was just a little time consuming because I was trying to be careful so

Where are the screws located to open the door and install a new door latch?
For model number LVM1683ST/00
Hi Billie,Thank you for your question. Before you begin any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. You will need to remove the plastic lining around the inside of the door. There are retainer clips holding the liner in place and you will need to use a putty knife to remove it. Depending on the type of microwave you have, you may have to come in from the bottom or from the top to remove the lining. Gently slide the putty knife in between the lining and the frame and go around the frame and gently pry it loose. On the hinge side you will need to come in from the backside to pry the lining off. The door latch is held in place by tension. There is a spring that is usually attached to the latch and to one of the fins on the door to provide it. With the inner lining removed you can now remove the old latch. Install the new latch by slipping it into the slots in the door and attach the spring to the bottom fin to allow for tension in the latch. Reinstall the lining and close the door. Plug the microwave back in. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Does the spring come with the new door latch?
For model number LMV1600SW
Hello Gerald, Thank you for the question. The Spring, PartSelect Number PS3524607 is sold separately. We hope this helps!
Does the door latch assembly come in any other material than cheap plastic?
For model number LMV1680ST
Hello Jeff, Thank you for the question. Since we only sell OEM parts we only have the original plastic latch that was made for the appliance. Very sorry for the inconvenience, good luck with this repair!

My door latch broke tonight. I know the process to take it apart, but my concern is scratching the black ring that goes around the inside of the door. Can anyone tell me the best way to remove it? The right tool? Also, does the film have to be replaced definitely?
For model number mv1502w/01
Hello Rick, Thank you for the question. You will need to use a putty knife to pop the ring out of place carefully. It will just snap back in place. If the film is damaged it should be replaced. Hope this helps, good luck with this repair!
