Lights did not work, bulbs were good
Took out the light sockets, plugged in the new ones. I found the manual on line to find the part numbers. Parts select parts were perfect
Un Plugged the frig. Unlocked the socket by pressing down on the latch. Pulled the socket out ensuring I had enough slack. Unplugged the old socket installed the new. Plugged the frig back in. Tested the switch . Very easy-to-use.

Fridge light dead even with new bulb
1- youtubed the potential diagnoses, 2- resourced and ordered parts, 3- removed old socket, installed new one :-)... My fridge is an older fridge and could've used a screwdriver for eyeglasses. Plug and play easy... YAY!

light kept blinking on and off never same way
turn breaker off first then use thin blade screwdriver and plastic pry bar to remove light socket and switch there was plenty of wire so work was easy to install at both ends
My light in the refrigerator was going on and off.
I unplugged the refrigerator. Pressed the tab near the light bulb. Unplugged the socket and reconnected it.

No power to the fan and compressor
I have a fridge in my garage. I have found that a glass of ice water or a cold drink outside is very important to me. When I discovered melting ice dripping onto the garage floor I was very upset. ... Read moreg it to these components. I did some research and found the wiring diagram online. There really isn't too much going on with a fridge and the most likely candidate seemed to be the run capacitor. I ordered the part, replaced it in a few minutes and the fridge began working again.
The light in the fridge somehow blew and melted the ocket to which it was attached to. There was no way the bulb was coming out so I ordered both the bulb and socket to replace. Simple plug and play and it was installed in less than 5 minutes.
Leaking from bottom of refrigerator and no ice/ ight out in freezer
To repair the light socket which was not functioning, I identified and followed the instructions on part-select on you tube. I unplugged the refrigerator, cleared away and removed the shelf below the housing for the light. I reached up under the plastic light protector with a screwdriver and popped up the tab on the front holding it in pl
... Read moreace. Then I easily pulled out the defective socket. I reversed the process and popped the new one in to replace the old, screwed in the light bulb, put the shelf back, plugged the fridge in and was finished. This took only about 5-10 minutes. To repair, and replace the dual inlet-water valve, I pulled the refrigerator out and removed all the nuts protecting the back at the bottom. I unplugged the fridge and turned the water switch at the wall to off. I once again had identified the problem by the symptoms on part-select, ordered the part and watched and followed the repair on part-select on you-tube. There are a variety of nuts and bolts to remove the protective housing and then get to the water inlet valve unit at the back left bottom side. It doesn't take long. I unplugged the two electrical lines holding the water inlet valve in place, I unscrewed the bolt in the center on top and the two valves underneath that are the three water lines from the water in the refrigerator back to the unit and on to the ice maker. I replaced the unit as instructed and started to reconnect the hoses. At that time, I noticed that the hose from the unit to the ice maker was a little brittle at the end. So, I suggest you check all your hoses as well when you identify the same problem. I decided it would be best to replace the hose as well and ordered the ice water hose from part select. I left the water off and put the fridge back. The ice maker hose replacement came quickly, in 2 days. Then I simply pulkled it out and replaced that ice water line in about a minute, reversed putting back the rest of he screws that hols everything in place, closed up the unit, plugged the fridge in, turned on the water valve at the wall and put the refrigerator back in to place. This process, if uninterrupted, would take about 30 -45 minutes. Everything is working good as new now. I probably saved myself at least 150 dollars, had the satisfaction of fixing it and learned something myself about how the whole thing functions. Part select is a find!
After I bought what I thought I needed for the repair. I asked a friend to come over and look at it. He changed the the light socket and put the same light bulb in and it works great. I am returning the light switch but decided to keep the light bulb.
Getting on the internet was so easy. This was really very simple.

The light & socket in this fridge got ripped out somehow. I can see the 2 wires hanging there where the light socket used to be. The fridge works great. Just need the right parts to get some lighting.

Thanks for your question. This is typically due to the light switch, part number PS8758429. It can be tested with a multimeter to see if it has continuity; replace it if it has no electrical continuity. If it does test positively, consider replacing the socket.

Please explain how to remove the light socket on this refrigerator model. Without breaking it. The socket wires have come off. I just need to remove it, replace the wires and replace.

Hello Dennis, thank you for your question. The light socket is installed by following steps. Unplug the refrigerator. Remove the light bulb from old socket and unsnap the old light socket and pull it out just enough to disconnect the electrical plug that plugs into the socket . Connect the wires to the new socket and snap the socket housing back into the fridge. The bulb can then be replaced and you are good to go! I hope this helps!
