Oven works again!
On the main oven burner we were having the occasional “whoof” noise of excess gas, slow lighting, and finally no lighting. The igniter would still glow, though. That was confusing until I saw where the help here said failing/failed igniters can still glow. It’s true. It really can still glow but not ignite the gas. This part fixed it totally and the oven is now working properly.
I did have to pull the stove out from the kitchen wall to get to the connector. It’s no big deal, though. Apparently some other reviewers were able to do the swap without pulling the stove out. The connector on this igniter just plugged into a mating connector on a pigtail for us. The pigtail was just too short to be able to pull the connector into the oven bay to do the disconnect/reconnect. Pigtail length on this igniter wasn’t the issue. It was identical to the OEM igniter that this replaced.
It also looked identical to the OEM part I needed to replace - just new. I couldn’t find any differences.

Gas oven no longer heating up. Indication that igniter is faulty. Removed oven door simply by lifting it up off of hinges, removed bottom tray(2 screws). Removed two screws holding igniter in. Pulled oven out from wall, unplugged it from wall, located wire connector, disconnected easily by pinching tabs, pulled igniter and wires out thru front. Oven did not heat up.
First I changed the temperature sensor and when it didn’t get hot I Also changed the igniter. Fired right up.
Took the bottom out of oven then removed and replaced with the new part. VERY EASY! I'm a 70-year-old woman and do quite a few home repairs myself.

Oven would not maintain temperature and not heat up correctly
Unplugged the Rang. Removed the oven door. Removed the lower cover for the Bottom heater. Removed the two screws that held the igniter to the burner. Went to back of oven to disconnect the igniter. removed the old igniter. Installed the new Igniter in the reverse order.

Igniter on burner
Firmly grasp burner turn counter clockwise while lifting. Photograph the location of the wires. Remove with a Phillips head screwdriver. The igniter will lift and turn one quarter turn then pull through bottom. Reverse the steps to install the new igniter. Test knew igniter. Put tools away

Broiler wouldn't turn on(ignite)
Ordered the broiler igniter that matched my model from part select and installed. Easy and part works as it should. Only took a few days to get here and saved me $40 by not purchasing at a local parts store as well. Will use part select if there are any future needs.

My igniter burnt out. My oven stopped lighting up.
I ordered a new igniter and when it arrived, i removed the door from the oven. It just lift's off. I had to removed two screws from the bottom plate to gain access to the igniter. Remove the two screws from the igniter and unplug it from the back of the lower back of the stove. Place the new igniter where the old one was and plug it in.

Faulty oven igniter
Removed door and bottom oven pan to expose igniter. It was held in place by two sheet metal screws. Tried to back them out but due to heat damage , they stripped. I used my versa tool with a metal blade to cut the screws. I removed the old igniter and disconnected the plug, after I guided it out from the insulation. I installed the new ig

Oven has slowly been failing to maintain temperature. It final decided not to come up to temp at all. The piece of metal in the back was glowing like it was hot though. Using a long lighter it did ignite and slowly increase in temp but very slowly. What parts would you suggest. Thanks.

Kitchen aid gas range... my gas burners ignite with no problems. my broiler works too. however my oven doesn't ignite. i would think the gas valve is ok due to the other part working. is this just the oven igniter? what are your thoughts. please attach the correct part number if you feel it's the igniter. thanks

Oven will not light. No smell of gas. Changed out oven igniter. Put everything back together and tried oven. Oven still does not come on. I hear a click in control panel, but no fire in oven. Anything i can do to make the oven work?

If the igniter is working and the oven still does not light, it may be an issue with your gas supply. I would check the regulator as well as the Safety Valve (Part# PS11744553).

My oven takes a while to ignite the dies so with a whoosh and an explosive sound which pushes the oven door open. Does this mean the ignition is broken ?

Hello Chana, thank you for your question. We would recommend replacing the oven igniters first. Usually when this happens, it means there is gas getting to the unit but the igniter is not getting hot enough to light until much longer than necessary. I hope this helps.

My oven igniter does not glow at all. I removed it to check continuity and it does have continuity. How many ohms of resistance should it have?

Hi Dave, Thank you for the question. You can test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is good, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter. Hope this helps!

Oven lit and took a while to heat.Not too long later after not really reaching the cooking temp needed it started to give off an odor like a burning pot handle (gas?). Turned oven off checked for any object that may have been burning.None.Tried to put oven back on.Igniter glowed hot but would not ignite burner.What do you think could be the problem?

Oven keeps turning on by itself even when it's in the off position and heating element stays glowing

We would recommend checking the following parts to fix your issue: oven igniter, spark module, ignitor switch temperature control thermostat, and the main control board.
