easy repair
part wasn't the exact replacement, but it worked just fine. I really only needed the plastic arm and the lid, but it appears you have to get the solenoid with it.

Easy Repair-great customer service
They helped me find the right part and even sent me an email with videos on how to repair it myself. The part came sooner than estimated and it was in great shape. It was very easy to do and saved me a lot of money. Thank you

Easy repair in a little amount of time
We only really needed the ice dispenser door and the tabs that go with it as ours had broken but we figured we might as go ahead and install the solenoid while we were in there (our refrigerator is 20 years old!). We watched the very helpful video and paused when needed and I would say we (mostly my husband) had it conquered in about 20 minutes. Wish all repairs were this easy and quick! A word of caution - as others have noted - do not touch the circuit board unless you need a jump start for your heart ;-)

Great parts. GE certified replacements
All parts arrived on time and in good condition.
Before starting repair, remove the hinge cap on the refrigerator door and disconnect the power. Accessing this component if done incorrectly could short out the circuit board.

The ice maker door broke
It was not that hard. I am not totally inept, but also not a mechanice or techie. I have discovered that a lot of repair jobs have a video that shows you how to do things, and seeing it done makes a task doable for me.

Ice maker quit
I went to your site thinking the problem was lack of electronic/elec signal. Wrong! I then was guided to your "ice door repair kit". I only then realized(after viewing the repair video) that ice door SOLENOID failure was far more likely than elec circuitry failure.Since it was inexpensive I ordered the kit......gambling that it would fix

I also got an elec nibble (shock) once because I hadn't disconnected as the video said to do. Good parts, good information, timely response! "Piece of Cake"! Cheers John Taylor

The Ice and Water Dispenser Would Run on After the Glass Was Removed
I am going to be completely honest here. This problem had persisted for months. I finally decided that I would buy all the associated parts and repair the unit hoping to cover the problem. Much to my surprise, after carrying out the repair, using the instructions provided by PartSelect, I still had the problem. I decided to remove and
... Read more LUBRICATE the button which depresses the Limit Switch when you push a glass against the rubber membrane. Low and behold the problem was solved. The frig is nine years old, so I feel I may have prevented other problems in the future by replacing the three parts. It was a follow the directions sort of repair. I was very pleased with PartSelect response to my order (received it next day) with standard shipping.
I watched the repair video before I even ordered the part. That helped me determine if I felt I could make the repair. The video was extraordinarily helpful. Can't say enough about it. I even took off the dispenser door to see if I thought I could do it. The part arrived quickly, in just a couple of days. I only needed the door flap
... Read more but it came with the solenoid which is not uncommon on ordering parts. (I couldn't even find the part on other web sites much less a video on how to repair.) I reviewed the video again. I removed the drip tray and door facing as instructed. When removing the mechanism I did get incur a slight electrical shock. I had not unplugged the refrig. Duh.. Got the mechanism out and inserted the door flap. The solenoid strike bar had come out and I had a slight problem getting that back in but referenced the video and no problem. Put in all back in place. Had to clean out the ice bin some because water had frozen in the bottom. Put it back in, plugged in the refrig and I am back in business! Terrific! The video was the key for me. It gave me confidence with very clear instructions. Bill

The original door flap broke
The replacements parts were aftermarket parts so I could not simply replace the one piece I needed. I did replace all the original parts with the aftermarket parts and it works perfectly. The round door that opens and closes to let ice through the door is no long attached. We also saw a flat piece of plastic that appears to be snapped and broken. Do you think that if I purchase the ice dispenser solenoid and door kit that all needed parts are included? Thanks!
For model number MSD2356AEW
Hi Thomas, Thank you for the question. Yes this kit will have all the parts needed for the repair. Here is a link to our video on how to install the kit as well. Good luck with the repair!

Lately the water dispenser switch has been sticking in the open position. That is to say, when you put a glass against the grey rubber panel and press to dispense a glass of water, the water continues to flow after the glass has been removed. In order to turn it off i have been having to push on several places on the grey panel.
For model number MSD2656DE
Hi David, it sounds like some of the door on the door may be getting stuck in the open position causing water to come out after the water should shut off. You can try and take it apart see if it needs cleaning or a damaged part may need to be replaced entirely. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair!

I reinstalled the ice dispenser door and lost power on the ice maker. The refrigerator and freezer are still running but the lights on the ice dispenser panel are out and nothing runs..

Hello Mike and thanks for writing.
Look for the Reset Button
To access it, you must first remove the ice tray. Once you do that, you should see the bright red reset button on the bottom of the ice maker itself. To reset the ice maker, push this button in and hold it for 10 seconds. We hope this helps. Please contact us at any time

The water dispenser released a full flow of water without a demand. Ice maker does work on demand. Once i shut off water valve at the wall and power, only the water line is inop. Any ideas? Thanks!
For model number JCD2389DEW
Hi Greg,
Thank you for your question. I would actually suggest that you check your water inlet valve. You valve has two solenoids on it, one for your ice and one for your water dispenser. It could be that the ice is working and the water is not. You would be able to test this part with a multi meter. Test each solenoid to make sure they are both working. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

The ice and water dispenser is not working and the dispenser door is not opening is it the solenoid or the dispenser circut board? I can't seem to find the exact model or the circut boards for any of the mzd2766ge models
For model number MZD2766GE*
Hello Mike, thank you for your question. I would recommend replacing the Ice Dispenser Solenoid and Door Kit 12001991 first. That is the most likely issue. If the solenoid doesn't fix the issue the other option would be the Dispenser Control Board Part Number: WP61005274. I hope this helps!

Ice maker and chute keep freezing up. Door going up to chute seems to be closing. Took apart ,spring to close door ok. Any idea what is wrong.
For model number MSD2456GEQ
Hi Bob,
Thank you for your inquiry. If the ice maker and ice chute are freezing up then it may caused by a number of factors. It may be caused by a frozen ice maker fill tube, a faulty water inlet valve, the temperature in the refrigerator is too low or the water filter needs to be replaced. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
