Range Spark Ignition Module Kit 12001596

Hello Douglas, thank you for your inquiry! When one of your burners is not igniting, it is one of 2 reasons. The first being the spark module. If the burner is produce weak to no spark, or if the burner sparks intermittently, the spark module is most likely defective and needs to be replaced. The second reason being the spark ignition switch. When the burner is turned on, the spark ignition switch sends voltage to the spark module to produce a spark. If the spark ignition switch isn't working properly, it won't send voltage to the spark module, and the burner won't be able to produce a spark. If one of your burners isn't sparking, check to see if the other burners are sparking properly. If the other burners are sparking properly, the spark ignition switch is likely defective and needs to be replaced. Hi Suzanne, Thank you for your question. A normally functioning igniter will typically click up to three times before it sparks. But, every now and then you may run into instances where the ignitor continues to click or tick even after the burner is lit, or the burner never lights at all. A clicking ignitor typically is not dangerous and may continue to click if the gas is shut off. One of the most common sources of this issue is that the Burner Cap is out of place. Make sure the cooktop is completely cooled and remove the Burner Grate to access the cap. Try removing the cap and center it on the base. If the burner cap is askew, it can prevent the burner from lighting. If that doesn’t work, check for moisture. If you recently had a pot boil over on burner, a food or grease spill, or cleaned the cooktop, there may still be moisture present even if it looks dry. Remove the burner cap and give the burner time to air dry. To speed up the process, make sure all the burners are off and towel off the top of the range. You can then either use a fan aimed at the range top or set your oven to 350° and leave it on for around 30 minutes to speed up dry time. If you see that there is debris stuck in the holes in the burner, that could also potentially be the culprit. You can use a metal pin or paper clip to clear the debris out of the grooves. Never use items such as toothpicks to do this, they may break off and get lodged inside. If you get through all of these tips and still have the clicking problem, it may be the Spark Module, Spark Ignition Switch or the Ignitor itself. You can find replacements for your model stove for purchase on our website. If you feel comfortable, this is a repair you can do yourself. Hi John, Thank you for your question. Before you begin any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet or turn the circuit breaker off. To begin the repair, first start at the back of the range, so you can remove the access panel. For this repair you will need to use a quarter inch nut driver to remove the screws. With the screws removed, carefully lift the access panel out of its location. Disconnect the wiring harness that connects the range to the power cord and set it aside. You now have access to the spark module. There are wires that are attached to the module that you will need to disconnect. The spark module has numbers marked on it such as 1, 2, 3 and 4 for example that correspond the to wires that connect to the spark module that will allow you to connect them correctly to the new spark module. There are also 2 wires on the bottom of the module labelled L and N. You will need a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the wires from the spark module. With the wires disconnected, you can now remove the spark module from the stove. There are 2 locking tabs on the spark module. Press down on the top of the module to release the top tab. Take the top tab out of the range and then you can pull the bottom tab out of its position. Before, installing the new spark module onto the range, you will need to connect the wires first. Match the wires to the corresponding numbers and letters on the module. With the wires connected, line the module up to the stove and connect the bottom tab first and then snap the upper tab into place. Before reinstalling the access panel, reconnect the wiring harness that connects the range to the power cord. Rotate the access panel, so it is in position and secure it with the screws. Hi John, Thank you for your question. Before you begin any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet or turn the circuit breaker off. First, remove all the cooktop grates and then lift the gas burner caps off the burner heads. Remove the screws securing the burner heads in place and then remove the burner heads. Remove the burner caps. Remove the nuts that hold the burner heads Remove the burner heads. Pull the control knobs off of the burner control valves. Remove the screws that secure the main top to the top of the burner orifice holders. Lift the main top off of the cooktop and set it aside. Take note of how the wires are attached to the existing spark module, so you can connect them correctly to the new spark module. Disconnect all the wires attached to the spark module. Release the locking tab and then remove the spark module from the mounting bracket. Disconnect the wires from the spark module. Position the new spark module on the mounting bracket and push it into place. The locking tab should snap into place when the module is in the right position. Connect the wires to the new spark module. Position the main top on top of the burner orifice holders and insert and tighten the screws that secure the main top to the orifice holders. Push the control knobs on the burner control valves. Position the burner heads in the correct locations, screw them into place and tighten the screws firmly. Cover the burner heads with the burner caps in the correct locations. Set the grates into place on the cooktop. You can now restore power to the cooktop, and it should now work for you. Hello Joe, thank you for your question. The correct Spark Model is PS2094592. The valve switches are PS11744146 and PS11744145. Check the condition of the spark ignitors first as these have a tendency to crack. To access, go to the rear of the unit, and unscrew all the screws on the square box containing the spark module. It may be useful to take a photo of the wires on the module before detaching. We hope this helps.
