My ice maker and water line was leaking a few months ago and I had a repairman come out and do a very simple fix that cost me over $200. He told me that the next thing that would probably go out was the mother board. He said the lights will start to blink on the front panel and probably not go on inside. He also told me it was a pretty easy fix to pull the old one out and replace it with a new one, but would cost me about $800 if he came out to fix it. So when the lights started to blink I went on line and found the part with PartSelect and took a change that it was the right part for my GE Refrigerator. It will a little longer to get it than I would want, but it was exactly the right part and took me all of 15 min to replace it. The part only cost about $200 and was a very easy fix. The part was easy for my husband to replace with the old control board. It worked to fix our issue (s). All the lights eventually went out and it was making a weird sound ( which it has for a very long time) that I think we just didn't want to address and spend the money on. It fixed all the issues we were having and saved us A LOT of money by not having it professionally repaired or having buy a new refrigerator.
