Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This dryer timer is an authentic OEM replacement part for dryers. It is responsible for controlling the duration of the drying cycles to ensure that clothes are dried efficiently. Over time the timer may fail due to regular wear tear, electrical failure, or physical damage to the timer itself. If you notice that the dryer is unable to start or complete a drying cycle or runs longer or shorter than programmed then this is a sign that that timer is malfunctioning. You may also notice difficulties turning the timer knob. You can find the timer behind the control panel of your dryer.
How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

Works as expected. Easy to replace!
My dryer knob stripped out all of a sudden. I couldn’t even turn it with a tool. I needed a new timer and new knob now. My hubby took it apart and we found the problem and parts we needed. I got on here and found the part easily, it came super fast! And I installed it myself. I took a pic of all the wires and where they went and took the old one off. Then put the new one on looking at my pics. Easy and works perfect again!!!

Exact Replacement
Timer was exact replacement. Installation was easy and since I always have felt the original timer was faulty, the performance of this unit this unit proved. Less than 7 days out of warranty and GE refused help. This service was a lifesaver. I ordered the knob separately. The original knob broke because the original timer was so hard to operate. The knob sent was a perfect match for the new unit.

Timer knob would not turn, caused the knob to break.
Remove two screws on the back of dryer that hold the Control panel on. The panel is hooked on to the dryer so carefully remove that. The timer knob has several wires hook into it so take a picture for reference. Remove the screws, remove and install new timer. Now transfer the wires over to the new timer one at a time to avoid confusion.

timer control locked down, knob was broken trying to turn
took 6 screws 0ut of cover plate, removed wires one at a time and replaced on new part(timer) removed retaining scres turned 1/4 turn removed--replaced in reverse manner
Took off back top panel, loosening one torn head screw, rotated timer counterclockwise approximately , removed timer ( front knob was already off) , exchanged wires out one for one , reinstalled , replaced back cover, and put knob on from the front. Very straightforward.

Should this piece be wired the same as the older model dryer timer because there is en extra prong labeled T that is left open?
For model number GTD42EASJ0WW
Hi Spencer, thank you for your question. Yes, you would actually just leave that left open if you do not have a wire that goes to that terminal. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Hi Larry, thank you for reaching out. According to our research, both wires need to be attached to the c terminal on the new dryer timer. Wires can be soldered or connected and then attached. We hope this information is helpful!

We bought our GE dryer brand new several years ago, after the pandemic started. And since early on I never liked that the timer knob was very stiff/difficult to turn, unlike our older Kenmore dryer we had had to replace with the GE dryer.
So now the timer knob finally stopped working, it actually was turning, easier, but the dryer wouldn't start up. After being able to pull off the knob, I eventually noticed that it had a crack on the inner area surrounding the internal metal clip part.
To make a long story short now, I had to use a pliers wrench to turn the timer shaft - still very hard to turn! - and then the dryer started up as normal.
So my question is this: did our brand new GE dryer come with a "faulty' timer, seeing as how it has always been so stiff/hard to turn..? (which ultimately caused the timer knob to crack) And so would buying a new oem timer to replace the dryer's original timer fix this issue of it being so hard to turn..?
Sorry for such a lengthy message! Thanks for your feedback about this timer 'issue'.
For model number GTD42EASJ2WW
Hello Barry, thank you for getting in touch. The timer knob for your model is part number PS11736611. As the timer knob of your model is damaged, we would recommend replacing it. Based on the description that you have provided, it sounds like the stiffness of the timer knob could be due to a faulty timer mechanism. If the timer has always been difficult to turn and eventually led to the knob cracking, it is possible that there was an issue with the timer from the start. We would recommend replacing the timer, part number PS11763064, to solve the the issue of it being hard to turn. Glad to be of assistance!
This GE dryer is only 3 years old but when I turn I dial for the timer it just spins. It is not connecting to gear box or teeth, just spins. Does the entire little time box need replaced or can a gear part with teeth just be ordered.
For model number WE04X24550
Hi Lynn, thank you for the great question. You need to replace the whole timer to fix the problem, the gearbox is not sold separately. Please reach out to customer service if you need help placing an order. Glad to be of help!

Just received replacement part model numer tmd14m30. Part number 234d2377p004. The part i took off of the dryer is model number tmd16m12 with part number 234d2377p003. The new part that i received has an extra prong h on one side and then 1 less prong on the c hook up. My current 1 has 3 total hookups at c counting the black wire already there. I have a tan wire and a brown wire currently hooked up at c. The new one is what is recommended according to the model number gtd42easj0ww. What do i do with the extra wire or is this the wrong part? Thanks.
For model number Gtd42easj0ww
Hi Donnie, thank you for your question. Yes the timer has been updated from the original. You would actually just leave that left open if you do not have a wire that goes to that terminal. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
