Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This dryer timer is a genuine manufacturer replacement part that is specially designed to fit with dryers. You can locate the timer behind the control panel of your dryer. The timer controls the duration of the drying cycle. It allows users to set a specific amount of time for the dryer to run before automatically shutting off. This feature enables you to customize the drying process to your needs based on the type and amount of laundry you are drying. If the timer is faulty, the dryer may fail to start, stop running midcycle, or run indefinitely. You may also hear a clicking sound when you turn the timer knob or you may be unable to move the knob altogether.
How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?

Reasonable price for premium part.
All went well with timer replacement. The lead time was much too long. Back order information should be made available up front. In this case we were able to use our dryer while timing.

Timer knob stopped moving/counting down, never stopped heating & running
Need to access back of dryer so you probably have to take exhaust hose loose as I did b/c mine was aluminum foil flex type. Was an oppt'y to clean it but fiddly when reinstalling. Since the control panel is tilted slightly back for ease of use, I tilted the whole dryer forward to get better access to timer mounting screws. Very easy insta
... Read morell. Even though there are a lot of wires, they are grouped into 4 molded connectors which are all different shapes, so you can't get it wrong. You might have to pry a little to get them off and I suppose you could break the connectors if you are too rough. There is a fifth separate small connector with 2 black wires and that one is hard to release. You have to press a release tab down and fiddle a bit. As you face the cabinet from the back do note the timer's left mounting screw also shares holding an L-shaped bracket to secure the buzzer, and if you reinstall putting the buzzer bracket first you will not be allowing the timer to rest flush with the back of the control panel. So I installed the right screw back first which held the timer tight enough to then line up buzzer bracket with left screw hole in timer. Also note when seating the timer in place there are two protruding dimple things on the front which fit into two holes drilled in the dryer to be sure timer is properly oriented up and down so that it looks right when put back together with writing around knob pointer.

Timer was not working when set for timed drying
Replaced dryer timer with a new one. Was really easy to replace. Just had to remove timer knob and back cover to get to timer. Then removed all wiring harnesses from the timer and unscrewed the two screws that holds it in place. Installation of new timer was in reverse order. Tested new timer and it solved the problem.

Timer won't advance - just sits in one place and i can hear the "ticking" noise of the timer - just wont advance. Purchased from you and replaced thermal fuse but no difference. Dryer heats well, does not overheat - timer just won't advance. Is next option to purchase a new timer? Ideas? Thank you!
For model number WGD5000DW3
Hi Tom,
Thank you for your question. If the timer is not advancing, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the thermal fuse, the belt, the igniter kit and the radiant flame sensor. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Neither my timed dryer or sensor dry is working. The heat is good but it just continues to run with no movement of the dial.
For model number WED5000DW
Hello Bill, thank you for your question. That sounds like an issue with a thermostat or the timer itself. We would recommend testing the thermostats and the dryer fuse and if those parts are not the issue the timer should be replaced. I hope this helps!

I have an electric Maytag commercial dryer. It’s almost 5 years old. When I press the start button, the dryer starts and it runs for 10 seconds or less. Then it stops and about a minute or two later, it will start again and run for another 10 seconds or less. Prior to this recent change in behavior, the dryer was working fine. It was drying the clothes without a problem. Now, if I let it run, I smell a slight “electrical” burning smell. I have unplugged the dryer and I’m trying to figure out what part I need to replace. I am thinking it’s the timer. I read in some of the timer reviews that the timer makes a clicking sound some times when the dryer stops. That happens with my dryer, as well. The “burning smell“ seems to be coming from the back, where there is somewhat of a vent, above the cord for the plug and behind the control panel at the top and back of the dryer. Can you think of another part other than the timer that may need to be replaced?
For model number MGDP576KW0
Hello Pam, thank you for getting in touch. Based on our understanding of the issue, it seems like the timer of your model is malfunctioning and causing the burning smell. We would suggest checking the wire harness regarding the timer. If the wire harness is intact, then you may need to check the timer, part number PS11749833, to solve the problem. We hope this helps.
