Sample Model Number Tags
Model numbers can be made up of numbers (1005400, for example) or a combination of letters and numbers (LAT1000AAE). The model number will most likely appear on either a paper sticker or a metal plate. Your appliance's model number tag may look similar to the sample model number tags shown here (model number highlighted in yellow):
This drain pump with pulley, also known as the washing machine drain pump assembly, is a pump with two ports. The function of this pump is to help expel water from your washing machine. The pump is activated after the spin speed has been maintained for a specific period of time and is driven by the same drive belt that also runs the transmission pulley. If your washer is not draining properly the pump could be clogged by a small object or could be broken and in need of replacing. Tools you will need for this repair include a 5/16 nut driver, a putty knife, a 3/8 socket with a ratchet, and a pair of slip joint pliers.
How Buying OEM Parts Can Save You Time and Money
Why buy the real thing?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. Simply put, this means that the company who made your appliance is also supplying the replacement part for it.

Washer was making noise during spin cycle
Hardest part was finding part that needed the needed repair. Searching the web for issues associated with the sound resulted in many links. Once the sound was found, I went to the video to see how to remove the Water Pump so I could examine it to confirm that was the correct piece. It took about 15 minutes to remove the part. Since I h
... Read moread to remove the belt to get it out, I realize that the belt needed replacement as well. So both parts were ordered. Replacing the parts also took about 15 minutes. Relatively easy repair. Be aware that the video on the part select video shows the water pump in a different location than the Maytag washer. To get to the Maytaq water pump, there is a panel in the back that had to be opened to access the water pump.
Took off belt and ran motor. No noise. Then took off drain pump and spun it by hand and felt rubbing on one spot. I figured the bearings were going bad, so I ordered the parts and replaced them.
I had to raise the top of the washer and take off the front pannel. It was not too hard to replace the pump except that it was in the back corner and it was hard to reach the bolts to remove and install the new pump.

Grinding sound when unit was running and eventually locked up
Had to change the drain pump, the bearing was shot and was the reason for the noise and the eventual stopping/belt breakage....Watch the video on this site for the drain pump procedure it's very helpful....The drain pump swap-out was very easy...Two hose clamps and three small bolts and it was done in no time..I changed out the snubber ri
... Read moreng while I was in there... I used vise-grips to grab the the springs for removal/installation and lifted whe whole drum out....Just as others on here have suggested just loosen the retainer screws holding the old snubber ring just enough to slip it out and the new one in...It's really that easy...The toughest part is dealing with the springs and one piece of advice I can offer is to start with the hardest to reach first and save the easiest for last upon reassembly...Put it all back together and installed the new belt...DONE !!! Works like a champ !!!
Troubleshoot problem, removed front, removed drive belt, removed pump with pulley. Note, new pump did not have black plate, installed worked great. Thanks

Turned it over to my 35-year old son who removed pump and pulley assembly and the old drive belt, then simply replaced with new assembly and belt from PartSelect! Could not have been easier - from my viewpoint.

It agitates but when it's getting ready to drain out it just quits and does absolutely nothing you can't make it spin you can't do nothing it's like the timer just shuts off but when it's agitating it sounds like gravel is in it makes a loud noise
For model number CAV2000AWW
Hi Robbin,
Thank you for your inquiry. It seems as though your problem might be your drain pump. I would check to see if there is anything clogging or broken inside of your drain pump. Whenever your drain pump is clogged the mechanism inside will cease working to try and prevent any more damage. You should also check to see that everything inside your drain pump is still intact. Sometimes when there is a piece of debris it will break apart the plastic parts on the inside.
I hope this helps!

I have a grinding noise coming from the machine when the tub is turning.I know it is not the drain pump because today it started making noise in addition to the previous one.Any tips on how to identify it or do you know what it could be?
For model number MAV6200AWW
Hi Jason, Thank you for the question. This still could be the pump. If the pump has been making noise before, this is a sign it is breaking down. What could be happening is the pump is trying to drain during the incorrect cycles now. I suggest removing the front panel to gain access to the pump and try turning it using the belt.If the belt does not move freely the pump will need to be replaced.Hope this helps!

I have a Maytag that wont spin. I check the lid switch, it was good. My staff member said she smelled something hot and when it got to the spin cycle it just buzzed. I took the drain pipe and laid it down and it drained out the tub. Could it be the drain pump that is not working. I checked the drive belt and the pulleys wont even turn if i wanted to take off the belt. Thoughts?
For model number pav1000AWW
Hello Carmyn, thank you for your question. We would recommend checking the Transmission Pulley and Bearing Kit Part Number: 12002213, and Washer Brake Rotor Part Number: WP35-6714 to see if they have seized. You may also want to check the Hub and Seal Kit PartSelect Number: PS2349020 and the lower bearing kit PartSelect Number PS2003141. I hope this helps!

When filling up, water starts leaking.
For model number LNC6741A71
Hi Ruben, thank you for contacting us. We would suggest checking the water supply hose first. If it is fine, the issue could be with the water inlet valve, part number PS2037989. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this solves your problem!
