Replacing your LG Washer Tub-to-Pump Drain Hose

Replacing your Tub-to-Pump Drain Hose

Customer Repair Stories

Drain hose had 2 slits in the bellows.
Used a Phillips head screw driver remove the band clamp from the main tub drain(easy). Then used a pair of pliers to release spring clamps(1 @ the pump and 1 @ the over flow drain). Removing the Hose was easy, replacing was a bit difficult only because connecting the hose to the pump took a lot of time getting the spring clamp in the right position and making sure I didn't cut the hose, surly the hardest part of the operation. Secured band clamp and spring clamp. Op's normal.

This washer hose with bellows, also known as a dispenser hose, is a genuine OEM replacement part for your washer. Replacing this part can be helpful if your washer is leaking. The dispenser hose connects the dispenser assembly to the tub. Before beginning the repair, unplug the washer and turn off the water supply. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver to complete this repair; a clamp tool can also be helpful. Remove the screws holding the lid of the washer in place, and take off the lid. Locate the dispenser hose and remove its clamps. Place the clamps on the new hose, using the arrows for a guide in positioning the clamps. Install the new hose and reassemble all other parts.

LG washing machine flooded the Landry room.
Wife called me and said the washing machine just flooded the Landry room. I looked at it and didn't see anything wrong. Took the top off and the back off and started looking for a leak, did not see anything. Took the front part of the washer apart thinking the drain hole was plugged up where the rubber boot is. It was ok after taking the big rubber boot off or whatever that is called i was not getting anywhere. I put it back together left the top and the back off. I turned the water on and started the washer on a quick cycle looking for a leak. I found the bellows at the inlet had a small leak fixed that and started the washer again. So what i found out was the clean out drain plug was not in tight letting water out as it was washing after i tightened it all was ok. So i did find a leak that was small that we never saw. The hardest part was putting that wire clamp on the rubber boot it took two people to do that.

This is an outer seal clamp designed for use within LG washing machines. This clamp tightens and secures the gasket that seals the washer tub from the door. If your gasket is loose fitting and is not damaged or warped, this clamp is likely worn out and in need of replacing. This clamp is an OEM part and is made entirely of metal, with a strong tension spring in the middle. This outer seal clamp is sold individually and will require a set of pliers to replace.

Very visible tear in hose. It was 1 1/2" long
Simply took hose off from inside machine and replaced it with new one. The tore one had a stopper on one end that wrapped to front machine; inside filter compartment. So I put stopper on the other end of new hose and wrapped it to it's holding spot in filter compartment.

Front "cleanout/drain hose" ruptured causing water leakage during operation.
The short clean out or drain hose located next to the coin filter is connected to the rear side of the filter/ water pump housing. There is no other way short of removing the front door to reach that location . There are several youtube videos available to assist you on the procedures of removing the lid, front and control section of the washer. The process also requires the removal of the front spring clamp from the gasket or boot that connects to front to the tub. There is a special tool available for around $50.00 that makes this task every simple. I found one (new) on ebay. The replacement part runs about $4.00 and is referred to as a "hose, connector". There is , however, no connector involved. Once the items are removed, the hose can be accessed at its connection location. I found it necessary to use a box knife to cut a long shallow grove over the hose where it covered the plastic connection point to remove it. The new replacement hose fits tightly over the plastic connection and requires a small amount of dish soap applied to the installed end. This is truly an easy repair. I decided to do it myself after getting a quote from a repair shop of $229.00 . For me. it was worth the time to purchase the tool and part for less than a third of the repair bill cost and have the tool available for the next repair job.
