My dishwasher wouldn’t start for a while, and after messing with it (unplugging, making sure everything was clean behind the door panel, and plugging it back in in a new outlet) it started again. In the middle of the load we were running, it shut off again. Research points us to a thermal fuse, but it doesn’t look like our model has one. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
For model number WDP540HAMZ0
Hi Steven,
Thank you for your question. If the dishwasher does not start, make sure that the door is shut. If the door does shut completely the door latch may be defective and it will need to be replaced. If the door latch is fine, check the high limit thermostat. It is a safety feature that turns the dishwasher off if it starts to overheat. Before removing and checking the high limit thermostat for continuity with a multimeter on the Rx1 setting, turn the power off to the dishwasher. Touch the probes to the terminals. If you receive a reading of 0 ohms, the thermostat has continuity. If the needle does not move or if the reading does not change significantly, then it has no continuity and will need to be replaced. We hope this helps!
