The turntable constantly turns, even when the door is open.

When I start the microwave, I hear loud bangs from the right wall and smoke comes out from the screen on the right side. What is causing this?

Thank you for your question. If the magnetron or the diode are malfunctioning, they can cause loud noises. To verify which part is causing the issue, unplug the microwave from the electrical outlet and test these parts for continuity with a multimeter on the Rx1 setting. For safety reasons, since the microwave capacitor can still store electricity even when the microwave is unplugged, it is usually advised that you discharge the capacitor before any attempt at repair. We have included a link on how to release the charge. When testing the diode, touch the multimeter probes to the terminals, and then check for continuity in the opposite direction by reversing the probes. There should be continuity in one direction, but not both. If your diode shows continuity in both directions or does not show continuity in either direction, you will need a replacement high voltage diode. For the magnetron, touch one probe to a terminal and the other to the metal housing of the magnetron, this test should indicate that there isn’t continuity. Next, touch both probes to the terminals, this should produce a reading of two to three ohms. If your test results differ from the above, you will need a replacement magnetron. We hope this helps!
