When starting a new load, the washer does a leveling process. Almost every time this happens, it makes a very loud, high-pitched squeal. Like sneakers on a basketball court - only louder and for a full second or more. It only does this once, at the start of a new load. Not at any other time in the cycle. Any idea what is going on?
It's as though the brake is left partially engaged from the prior load.
For model number MVW6230HC0
Hi Bob, thank you for reaching out. Based on our understanding, we would recommend checking that the load is evenly distributed between both sides of the washer before setting up its cycle. If the issue persists, you may need to replace the drive belt, part number PS12578772. We hope that helps!

Noise, grinding sounds. Wash tub stopped turning but motor and cycles kept functioning. Process of elimination, must be the clutch assembly.
Easy, just followed the repair video. Recommend also ordering the drive belt. Bought one locally during my repair.

Tab on door strike got broken off and washer would not operate without it.
Pushed in on door strike and rotated it counterclockwise, removed broken strike and installed new strike. NOTE: when removing the old strike (turning counterclockwise) it felt like it might break and/or was attached with an screw that I didn't see but it came right out.

Scratches in Surface
This product comes in a bottle with a brush like Liquid Paper. It goes on incredibly easy. A second coat might be needed. I wanted to prevent rust from setting in so I covered the scratches and dings. The paint is a little brighter since my washer is 10 years old but it still looks great.
