MHW5630HW1 Maytag Washer - Instructions

This product comes in a bottle with a brush like Liquid Paper. It goes on incredibly easy. A second coat might be needed. I wanted to prevent rust from setting in so I covered the scratches and dings. The paint is a little brighter since my washer is 10 years old but it still looks great.

Using the Torx Screwdriver, we removed the door from the unit. Then we removed all of the screws on the inside of the washer door. After that we flipped it over and opened it up exposing the inside. We couldn't separate them entirely because there was a screw under the latch piece that we couldn't figure out how to get to. However with all the screws out on the inside of the door, we did have enough room to open it up and access the place cover that holds the hinges in. Once we accessed that we removed the roller tips from the old unit and placed them on the new one. Then we reversed the process. With a couple screws in we realized we had put the hinge in reversed from what it needed to be, so we reopened it and switched it around. Then completed replacing all the screws and reattached it to the washer. It opens and closes perfectly and we saved a couple hundred dollars for sure, as the quote to come out had been a $150 trip charge.

Replaced the Whirlpool washer water inlet valve.
1. Unplug washer
2. Close Hot and Cold water valves
3. Remove top cover of the machine by taking out 3 screws in the top back. Slide top back and remove.
4. Water Inlet Valve is located on the back left side, remove tubing using a nutdriver to loosen the hose clamps.
5. Water Inlet Valve is removed by removing the screw in the back of the valve and turning the valve clockwise a little.
Replace with the new one, connect hoses, put cover back on, open valves, plug it in.
6. Ran washer and Fabric Softener dispenser now works

So I was unable to get my model number so I took the hinge off the washer and was able to order the part. Before removing the hinge I used a marker and marked the hinge location on the washer. Once I got the part I removed the T15 screws on the inside part of the door and separate the pieces. I was able to remove the white tube for all 4 of the pins and put them on the hinge. I installed the hinge an then i put the front door pieces back together again while it was laying on the floor. I though I put it in wrong but I was correct. Once i had the hinge on the door and the door reassembled, I was able to attached the hinge to the washer. The hinge comes off the washer by pushing up on it and to reinstall you push down. I tighten the 4 T25 screws using the marks on the washer and the door is alligned correctly. I am able to close the washer door with one finger instead of my whole hand.

Two people to screwdrivers, stretching the spring out and around and that’s the last part to go on

Replaced door latch after removing rubber seal from tub to access door latch. Simple replacement but did not correct issue. Notified service technician to determine error codes and had to replaced display panel and control module.

1. First I unplugged the machine.
2. Then I turned off the hot and cold water supply valves.
3. With a towel ready to catch the water, I used channel locks to unscrew the water supply hose from the valve in the back of the machine.
4. Next with 1/4" socket I removed the three screws at the top rear of the machine securing the top cover plate. You could also use a T20 driver.
5. Then I slid the top plate back about an inch and lifted it up to remove it from the machine, being careful with the sharp edges of the plate.
6. Then using my fingers I unclipped the electrical connections to the valve, taking note of how they attached.
7. Warning: I wish someone had told me this! Have a small towel ready to catch any water from the valve hose inside the machine so as not to get any electrical parts wet! I got the machine wet and had to wait a few days to let it dry before it would run water instead of just making a buzzing sound. Luckily it did work again. So with that in mind, I took pliers and squeezed the hose clamp to loosen it and slid it down over the hose.
8. Then using a flathead screwdriver I carefully worked around the hose and pried the hose off of the valve. Again have a small towel ready for the hose to drain onto!
9. Once the hose is drained, I removed the screw on the back of the machine that secured the valve to the machine. I don't remember if it is T20 or Phillips screw.
10. Then I turned the old valve counter clockwise a quarter turn (using channel locks to help me) to release the valve from the two metal tabs holding it in place.
11. I then pulled the old valve out and put the new one in following these steps in reverse order.
12. Don't forget to turn the water back on and plug the machine in! Not that I would ever do such a thing...

We unplugged everything. Then we removed the screws from the back of the washer. Then we slid off the top of the washer. Next, we removed the bottom drawer of the washer. We then proceeded to remove all of the screws and took off the entire face of the washer until the bellow was completely exposed. We did have to detach the hose and door clamp. We removed two metal clamps that held the seal in place. Once those were off we removed the entire old seal, replaced it with the new one, clamped it down, and reversed the steps to put everything back together. It was fairly simple.

I asked PS if I purchase from them, will I get the new version level sensor or the old version in a sealed bag that has the new number on the bag.
They guaranteed I would get the newest version level sensor inside of the bag. I had this problem with the past 3 vendors) So i spent double the $ to purchase from them. it arrived, bag had new part # inside was the OLD PART numbered item! The would not respond! The link for the install wont work! I just need the newer part and the calibration procedure t make this right or a refund!

First used wet vac to get water out. Unplug electrical cord. Shut off water and unhook lines. Unhook drain tube. Flip over on side. Take belt cover off. two screws.
Took photos of parts removing just for re- install. Ordered parts from part select.com. Came in Two days. The dealer was on 12 days I gave up on them. I removed actuator two easy screws and pulled off electrical connection no tool needed. Then removed pump three longer screws Than other part. Make sure to label them in a ziplock baggie. Plus I removed hose clamp with pliers slide Back on hose and pull hose off. Then remove electrical connection on pump. If it makes you feel better label each with masking tape so I know where each connection goes. Then replace pump first with new one. Make sure you push it in hard then the screws. Don’t over tighten. Plastic parts break. Hook back up hose slide clamp back over fitting end with pliers. Hook up wire connector. Next hook up actuator. Two screws wire connector and your done. Put belt guard back on. Socks can get caught under washer get in belt and cause major issue. Then you need to reconnect water lines. Make sure hot goes to hot. Cold to cold. Drain hose hook back up. Plug in power cord. Now the fun part. Run a diagnostic and then calibration. See you tube videos it’s like 3 clicks to left then two to right with selector knob. Write down the exact amount of clicks and steps. It works. Be sure to turn knob 4 times to left to clear it like a combination lock. Don’t let the noises scare you it makes all
Kinds of sounds while calibration goes on.

Took door off with a Phillips screwdriver went to hardware store with door so he could match up the 6pt screwdrivers that were needed.
No more then 1 hour to do.

Replaced each hose. Did discover that either hose can be used for hot or cold water lines. No longer required to label hot and cold replacement hoses.

Everything worked perfectly---thanks to the suggestion of your call center agent. She suggested that since the replacement door handles were no longer available, I should consider repainting them--it worked like a charm. Please tell her she was a life saver. We rent that house in Fl and my returning tenants had complained about the discoloring refer handles. Thank you

Removed rear cover (6 screws) unpluged harness from motor control and removed same. Replaced motor control reinstalled harness. Replaced rear cover. Parts used motor control board.
