The microwave won’t close. The door latch is intact, but whatever piece inside the door that the bottom of the spring attaches to is broken. I’m not finding any info about what to do about that.

Hello Joy, thank you for your question. The part inside the door is the Part Number: PS4229162. This part is what the spring is attached to inside the door. The microwave door key (or door latch) ensures that the microwave door closes properly while the microwave is operating. If the door key is broken, the door will not close and the microwave will not start. This a fairly easy job to do. You will need to take the screen on the inside of the door with either a butter knife or a flat head screw driver. Use one of these to pop the screen off. Don't use too much force or you will break it. This should pop off easily for you. There is a spring that attaches to the door key to the door. Remove both the spring and the current door key from the channel. What keeps the door key in place is tension. Towards the bottom of the door where the key would slide into there are what looks like hooks. Slide the key into the channel and attach the spring to the door key. Attach the spring to the bottom hook to provide tension to the key so it stays in place. Place the screen back on the door and you are done. I hope this helps with your repair. Thank you and have a great day!

The microwave will not start. This happened at the start of attempting to use the microwave. I took the 2 small thermal fuses out and tested them. One had continuity at the start. The other had a small reading of continuity after heating it up. Can you offer any suggestions on where to go from here?

Hello Freddy, thank you for contacting us. The issue is most probably with the door switch. The interlock switch is part number PS4131192, and the micro-switch is part number PS4131191. Check both of them for continuity and replace the faulty one. We hope this solves your problem!

E11 keeps coming up om my microwave. I believe i need a new humidity sensor. My question is do i have to drop the microwave and get to the replacement part from the top or front of the unit. And is it difficult to replace?Joe

Hello and thank you for writing. E11 This error code denotes a humidity sensor PS4224098 issue. You can see the sensor inside above your oven on the left. The microwave is designed in such a way that the sensor cannot be removed separately, so the entire panel has to be removed. We would say this needs some technical knowledge but it is not overly difficult and you might be able to find some repair videos on youtube to help you out. Such as: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pF0fTO8e4E We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.

Microwave door did not close
Initially I called a Samsung recommended appliance repair outfit to fix the latch. The technician informed me that he does not fix latches. I need to buy a full new door for the microwave for $215 plus he charges $165 to come to my house. I got angry and did some research and it turned out that this is a very common problem. I ordered part PS4229162 "door key" $6.67 then followed the instructions on a youtube video by zimsjeep
"Repair a Broken Microwave Door Latch" to install. At first I struggled a bit hooking up the spring to the frame, but then I used a slim plier to hold the spring (instead of my fingers) and that did the trick.

Buzzing noise, no heating of food
Removed control panel, discharged HV capacitor. Removed old diode, tested to confirm failure. Replaced part. Other than the removal of the panel swapping the part was almost as easy as replacing a light bulb.

Appears to work, but food not heated
The high voltage tired was shorted. I replaced it with a new one, but that did not solve the problem.

You can test the high voltage tired with a voltmeter and a 9 V battery. Search Search for it on YouTube.

You can also test the high voltage capacitor, the high-voltage transformer, and the magnetron with a multi meter. Search for the procedures on YouTube.

I tested all these high-voltage components with a low-voltage multi meter, and they all checked out OK (after replacing the diode). However the microwave still did not heat food.

When working on a microwave it is important to unplug it and also discharge the high voltage capacitor. The capacitor has a 10 megaohm resister to automatically discharge itself, but it may have failed – – so discharge it manually.

In the end I ordered a new microwave.
