Exhaust fan on cooktop would not raise
Repair technician diagnosed faulty raise / lower switch. Technician did not have part on hand. I ordered part but I came across a blog stating that if the screens were not properly installed a complete circuit would not occur. I used two putty knives and slid them in from of the screens in teh lowered fan assembly pushing the screens in place. The fan raised up and down as designed

On / Off switch broken
The retractable range ventilator stopped working in the up positiion. Removed grease filter. Removed existing CONTRL-MTR. Disconnected 2 flat control cables and connected them to new CONTRL-MTR and installed the new CONTRL-MTR. Also replaced the push button switch. Replaced grease filter. In testing the unit the ventilater would retract but not come back up unless I lifted the top trim piece with the push button switch in it and stuck a tooth pick in the hole to activate the switch. The down rod of the new pushbutton switch was too short. I then noticed the old push button switch had a very thin hard plastic tube extending the down rod. I transfered the tube to the new switch and it worked OK.
