Every time i use the microwave, it trips the circuit breaker. Can you provide an answer as to what is causing this problem and a fix for it?Thank you.
For model number JVM3160DF4BB
PartSelect logo
Hello and thank you for writing. When an appliance such as a microwave oven repeatedly trips the circuit breaker, it's overloading the electrical circuit, which is rated to handle a finite number of amps. Too many items are plugged into the same circuit that the microwave oven is one cause another cause is a short in the microwave itself. It certainly sounds like it could be a faulty line fuse or thermostat, you should check the part(s) for signs of damage, and replace it as needed. Please see the part links related to this question just beneath this answer. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.

Suddenly stopped. Apparently no power?
For model number JVM3160DF4BB

Hi Lois, Thank you for your question. If the microwave is not working, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the fuse, the diode, the magnetron, the door switches and the electronic control board. You will need to test the parts with a multi-meter. Here is a link to one of our videos on YouTube that you may use as a general reference on how to use one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWC44fHn0As. For the electronic control board, you will need to inspect it visually for signs of wear, damage or burn marks. If it shows any of those signs, you will need to replace it. To test the fuse, the diode and the magnetron, you will need to release the potentially dangerous charge from the capacitor by placing a screw driver with an insulated handle across the terminals. Be careful not to touch the metal portion of the tool. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, please get an electrician to help you with this repair. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day.

Hello, Thank you for your question. There usually are tabs that would need to be pulled to release. However if not you may need to remove the one side and then pull it towards the way that side was taken off to release and pull it out. We hope this helps.

Had to replace charcoal filter
Open the front cover by pushing it at the top (where it says “Push”), lifting up and pushing back on top edge of the old filter. Pull it out. Installing the new one is basically just the reverse of those steps! That simple.

Old filter did seem to be a little thicker (filter material), but the new one was the exact same dimensions, so it went in properly. Wish the filter material was white, so you knew just how dirty it was actually getting. But... :-D
