What causes gas odor when the burners are off.?

Hi George, thank you for contacting us. If you notice a gas odor when the burners of your cooktop are off, it could be due to a few potential issues. One common cause is a gas leak, which might occur if the gas connections are not properly sealed or if there is a fault in the gas line or valve. Even a small leak can result in a noticeable gas smell. We would suggest checking the pressure regulator, part number PS12070643. We hope this information is useful!
