Remove and replace light switch
Video makes it look easy. Kenmore refrigerator does not have "groove" along the right hand side of switch that allows for pushing down on release. Used a thin screwdriver to get under to push while holding switch edge with pliers. Kept slipping. Tape sides to avoid scratching inside of refrigerator.

Both cams had broken off the gasket retainer strips
Check YouTube, but no one shows all the details. Need to swap hinges and spring from old retainer to new retainers by removing screw at bottom of hinge, then removing rod with small screwdriver to poke the rod out. I laid the old and new side by side and did swap to ensure proper orientation. Attach cams before sliding gasket retainer back into gasket, I used a few drops of liquid soap as lubricant on the retainer to help it slide in. Very important to ensure the edge of the retainer is tucked behind the door edge or else things will not fit correctly. I did it a few times before I got it right, but didn’t break anything else. Good luck.

Icemaker quit releasing ice from tray and water was pouring and freezing in ice storage bin
This couldn't have been easier. Two tiny screws in the front needed unscrewed, and then two plastic clips in the middle just had to be popped lose. Finally, you unplugged the power cord. Then, you just needed to reverse the process by plugging the new ice maker in, popping the clips in place, and screwing the two holes back in and turning the whole thing on. Voila! Perfect ice cubes again. And for only a little over $100.

Left side refrigerator door not staying closed
the first part of the repair involved figuring out exactly which part needed to be replaced. this proved to be more difficult that the actual repair. Sadly, the parts diagram on PartSelect is useless. this is true for every aftermarket part supplier because they all use the manufacturer's parts diagrams. The solution to the puzzle was, of course, YouTube!
Just lookup something close to your problem and YouTube will most likely have a video of the repair. In my case the YouTube video actually named the part I needed and showed exactly how to replace it. It took a bit more digging and cross-referencing on PartSelect but I was able to order the correct parts and the purchase & shipping process was flawless.

Icemaker flooded the storage container box for cubes. Then froze solid.
Ordered the Part after looking at the choices shown, once I inspected the unit. I then knew by looks what would fit. THEN (important) went on Utube asking for video instructions. They had it on the computer and it was just too easy. What took the longest was the removable of the frozen food items and the drawers in the Bottom Freezer section.

Fridge light would not come on.
After watching a few iTunes videos I was able to order the light switch from part select and within a week I had the new switch. I had a little trouble getting the switch out. I used a flat screw driver and taped around the edge to keep from damaging the wall inside. I found the clip on the right side and had to use some force to get it popped out, you may need to use pliers to disconnect the switch.

Cam holder for gasket retainer broken off; refrigerator cabinet light switches failed
(1) Gasket holder is quite simple. Remove snap-on trim to expose gasket. Identify upper and lower clips (white 1" long) that hold gasket holder into frame of fridge door. Gently pry out / remove with flat-headed screwdriver. Gasket holder will slide out frpm the gasket. Replace - make sure you get the cam facing the correct way at the top of the holder. This is a pretty easy repair, 20 minutes beginning to end. (2) RHS light switch failed - replaced both -- door hinge cap removes w/ a single appliance screw - switches are plug-in to the wiring assembly, and snap into place in the hinge cap.

Light stopped working
Have had the Sears repairman come to the house to replace this part in 5 minutes for +$100.. twice. When my dad's stopped working, ordered the part and replaced it myself for the cost of the part and shipping.
Use a screw driver to pry the right side of the switch and pull out. Best to watch a youtube video first. Takes about 5 minutes.

The ice maker in freezer P/NO 5988JA0002Y would leak water and make giant ice block
I ordered and replaced the ice maker. To replace:
1. Go behind refrigerator and unplug electrical cord and turn off water supply.
2. In freezer locate electrical plug for ice maker. It has two tabs on the left and right side of it. Lift the tabs and pull the plug to disconnect it.
3. Remove the three screws, 2 on top and 1 on bottom of ice maker You can actually leave the screws in place if you loosen them sufficiently and lift the ice maker off of the screws and washers.
4. Install the new ice maker using the screws and plastic washers to secure it.
5. Plug the electrical connector for ice maker into the receptacle. Note: The plug only goes one way and is keyed with different shaped plugs and holes. The wires on my plug naturally fell upside down so I had to turn the plug 180 degrees to make it fit in the slot.
6. Turn on water and check for leaks.
7. Plug back in refrigerator and you should have ice in less than 12 hours.

Refrigerator light would not reliably turn on when the door was opened.
Switched the refrigerator circuit breaker to off. Put tape around the switch to prevent scratches. Wedged the putty knife into the right side of the switch and pried up.the switch and connector popped out. Removed the connector from the old switch and connected it to the socket in the new switch. Stuffed the new switch and connector back into its home. Switched on the circuit breaker. Now we have light in the refrigerator with every opening!
