on the back of the washer on top right corner there is a blue and red turn cap do you leave it in or unscrew it and take it off and do you need to greese it with pipe dope, thank you

Hi Mary, thank you for your inquiry. Both these faucets are for hot and cold water lines. Blue color indicates cold water line and red color indicates hot water line. Remove these caps, run some water from the hot and cold faucets to flush the water lines and remove particles that might clog the water valve screens. Insert black rubber washers into hose fitting before connecting to the unit. Carefully connect the inlet hose marked hot to the hot outlet of the water valve and the other inlet hose to the cold outlet of the water valve. Do not cross-thread or over-tighten these connections. Connect the inlet hose ends to the hot and cold water faucets. We hope that helps!
