The garbage disposal just ‘whirs’, the blades aren’t moving. I have fixed other disposals with the Allen wrench in the hole on the bottom…but this model doesn’t have one.
For model number GFC530H-01
Hi Matthew, thank you for getting in touch. According to our research, if the blades of your garbage disposer aren't moving, the most certain cause is that some fibrous material is jamming the grinding plate. As you mentioned that your model does not have a hole in the bottom to fix disposal with an Allen wrench, we recommend inserting a broom handle through the drain opening to turn the plate with the splash guard removed. Check to see if the turntable will move freely using a broom handle. If the turntable moves freely, replace the splash guard, part number PS12726321. If the turntable does not turn freely, check for an object lodged between the turntable and the grind ring. Dislodge the object by moving the turntable with a broom handle. We hope this sorts out your problem!

Deteriating splash guard
The splash guard for the disposer was deteriorating and kept falling into the disposer and getting chewed up making it even less reliable. I purchased two different 'universal' splash guards at the hardware store. Neither of them fit. I finally crawled under the sink with my eyeglasses and a flash light to find the model number. I se

arched for the model number on part select and received veery quickly. I just popped it in (less than a minute) and now everything is wonderful. Don't buy a new disposer (my wife wanted me to) buy the replacement part that is giving you trouble at PartSelect!
