How do you close the dishwasher door? It won't click shut. The part that the door should click into slides side to side.

Hi Linda, thank you for your inquiry. Your dishwasher door will not close properly if your door latch, part number PS6447681, is damaged. We would recommend replacing it to fix the issue. The door latch is attached to the tub frame, and connects to the door strike to keep your dishwasher door closed during operation. We hope this solves your problem!
Hello Ted, thank you for getting in touch. We have found the instructions to remove the inner door panel. These instructions may not be of the exact model but will help you. First unplug the appliance, open the door and remove the vent. Then close the door and un-thread the screws that are holding the kick plate. Remove the kick plate and disconnect the water supply and the wire connections that are going into the door. Disconnect the drain hose and take the unit out of the cabinet by removing all the parts that can make hinderance. Detach the cable pulleys from both sides of the appliance. Then open the door and lift off the hinges to remove the door. After that, un-thread the screws that are holding the inner door panel. Remove the inner panel and detach the control parts from it. I push start and then I push the select button and it does not select heavy, normal or light.
It stays on light, so I can’t use the normal or heavy cycles

Didn't actually do the compete repair but got close. Pulled out dishwasher, disconnected and checked continuity on the existing heating element (about 16 ohms) the new element was also about 16 ohms. This indicates they both were working fine and no need for replacement. Next step would have been to swap the elements would have been

Holding securely, replace screws removed in step 5. Toward the end they get a little tougher to screw in. 8. Plug wire harness into new door latch. 9. Re-align dishwasher and re-secure to counter in previous position. 10. Test latch to make sure it closes properly. 11. Turn on breaker in electrical panel. The dishwasher should now function properly.
