The splash guard, also known as a mounting gasket, is used for garbage disposals. The splash guard creates a watertight seal between the sink flange and the garbage disposal ring. It is a rubber gasket positioned around the perimeter of the inner stopper. Over time, the inner stopper gasket may tear, or wear down, impacting its ability to contain water and waste.
