Rattling noise when turn table was in motion
Unplug any appliance before any work is done. The microwave is a hanging unit under kitchen cabinets. First I removed the turn table, rollers, and connector by lifting them out. Second I removed all the attaching Phillips head screws that hold the bottom cover on. Once removed the cover will hang and give access to the drive motor gear assembly. It's held in place by 2 torques head screws. Remove these, lower the motor, and disconnect the 2 wires that plug onto it. A small pick or similar tool is needed to release the connectors latches. reassemble in reverse.

KitchenAid Microwave Motor Synchronous
PartSelect Number PS3529208
Manufacturer Part Number 6549W1S011B
This AC synchronous motor is a genuine OEM replacement part specially made for microwaves. It operates on an alternating current, and it is responsible for rotating the turntable to ensure even heating of your food. The motor can fail due to physical damage or malfunctioning internal components such as the bearings. If your turntable is not rotating, you will need to replace the motor. You can find it underneath the microwave cavity, near the center. Disconnect the microwave from the power source and remove the cover. Turn the microwave over and remove the bottom panel to access the motor. Disconnect the motor from its mounting location, and then insert the new motor in its place. Ensure the new motor is securely attached before reassembling the appliance.

Motor Burned Out On Turntable
My 8 year old daughter cleaned the inside of the microwave with enough water to rival a tsunami. Resulted in a clean microwave with a fried out motor that no longer revolved. Part came quickly. Took cover and bottom off to get to the part. One screw held it on and a plug. Removed those, put on new part and she was good to go. No trip to home depot today.

Fire in microwave melted several parts
Remove the filters and use a Torx driver to remove two screws holding the motor. The wires on on the motor are held in place by a plastic clamp that must be pried open on one side. That's all it takes to replace the drive motor. Everything else that makes the turntable spin lifts off from inside the microwave.

KitchenAid Microwave Motor-turn
I got the oven out, rolled it on it's side and found the plate to access the motor. The plate is located on the bottom/underside of the unit. The plate is nothing more than a section of the underside of the metal housing that has been cut-out as an access point. This "cut-out" is not complete - that is, not completely cut out so as to all the plate to stay in place without the need for screws, etc, until you actually have to use it. I used a pair of dykes to cut the couple of points still connecting this plate, removed the two phillips screws to remove the motor, disconnected the two wires connected, then reversed to complete the repair. You then flip the cut-out plate over/rotate it, and some screw holes line up. Find a couple of small screws, and re-attach the plate to cover the motor.
The actual fix is really easy, again, once you figure out the simple way to remove the oven. I am an idiot, so you will probably find this much easier. I could probably do this repair now, after my experience, in less than 30 minutes (probably less than 15 minutes). I probably save a couple hundred $ by doing it myself so was well worth the time to do it. Good luck. Read more...

Microwave turntable does not work
My unit is a wall mount/cabinet/built-in model. The repair is actually fairly simple once you determine that the actual microwave is just a component of the entire unit, and that it (the microwave) can be easily removed from the unit. I did not figure this out until after I removed the entire unit (disconnect the power supply, lift the entire bulky, heavy unit out of the cramped space in the cabinet, etc). Once I got it out I figured out how easy it is to remove the actual oven - a couple of screws, literally. The unit is a bit bulky, but not particularly heavy and is quite manageable. I did this entire process alone.I got the oven out, rolled it on it's side and found the plate to access the motor. The plate is located on the bottom/underside of the unit. The plate is nothing more than a section of the underside of the metal housing that has been cut-out as an access point.
