Water leaking under the dishwasher

I looked under and found that 2 brass nuts that secured the heater element through the base housing of the dishwasher has split down each side of the nut and no longer was tight enough to keep water from leaking around either end of the heater element. I powered down the dishwasher at the circuit breaker and then reached under the dishwasher and pulled away the 2 wires that were attached to each side of the heater element. I removed the two nuts and replaced them with the parts I ordered from partselect.com. I then put the appropriate wires back at the end of the heater element and ran the dishwasher to check for leaks. No leaks... it was fixed. Read more...

Unit Wouldn't Work. "Clean" Light Blinking

The unit had power, but the controls would not work. The "clean" light was blinking. I first replaced the control unit, no help. I then used the "just ask" and was told the problem was the heating element and/or the hi-temp thermostat. I replaced both those and used the re-set code pushing the "hi-temp/air dry, hi-temp/air dry" buttons. That did it. Easy parts to locate and replace. WARNING!!! This is NOT the grommet that goes on the "pump stem" in the center

I purchased this misguided by the official response to "Doug" on April 17, 2018, which at the time was labeled as "most helpful". This is NOT the little grommet in the center. This is a big grommet that goes no the supply pump. This is #14 in the diagram. (#15 is actually the clamp that holds it). If you are looking for the little grommet that goes on that stem on the central recirculation pump, that part is not available, it only comes fused on the sump, and for replacing the sump you have to disassemble the whole bottom part of the dishwasher, pumps, sensors, valves, hose...even this big grommet. A lot of work, and since you are at it, you might want to replace both grommets. If you need THIS big grommet (#14) only, then it is not so much work, just take out one clamp, one connected cable, and the grommet to replace. But check if your machine has reusable clamps, because if not, you might want to order a new clamp. Good luck! Read more...

Piece that holds the insert broke

The dishwasher has inserts that can be raised and lowered to adjust the space between the dishes.
One of the holders broke.
I took out the old one and put a new one in.

1) The hardest part was identifying the piece.
This is the insert holder near the front of the rack, to the right of the cutlery basket (as you face the dishwasher)
The drawings on the site are tiny so it is hard to figure out which is the correct piece
There are 3 different numbers for each piece.
the number on the rack assembly diagram (0647)
the PartSelect Number (PS8728043) and
the Manufacturer Part Number (00616990)
I wound up ordering a number of parts and returning the ones that I didn't need (at my expense)

2) Be sure to take pictures before you remove the old piece. Once the broke piece was removed, it was not obvious to me how it the new piece connected.
