light on to order water filter
Pressed in the end of the filter cover, lowered it down part way. Twisted the old filter 1/4 turn and removed it. Set in the sink to drain. Inserted new filter and twisted it to lock. closed cover. Done. Total time @ 1 Minute.

This Refrigerator Air Filter is a white 1.8x3.2" plastic filter which neutralizes odor and bacteria in the air. It should be replaced every six months at a minimum. This water filter is a genuine replacement for bottom-freezer refrigerators that accept a Filter 2. it is certified to remove up to 24 different contaminants which include pharmaceuticals, waterborne parasites, lead, and pesticides. The filter should be replaced every six months, or when 200 gallons of water have passed through, to ensure optimum contaminant reduction. The filter is found in the top right corner of your fridge, and replacing it is easy. Simply pop out the old one (keep a bucket underneath to catch any water) and slide in the new one. You will hear a click once it has locked into place. You should run water through the filter for a couple minutes prior to use. This filter measures approximately two inches wide, two inches deep, and 7.5 inches long.

This water filter bypass cap, also known as a water filter bypass plug, is an authentic OEM part that replaces the regular water filter cartridge in refrigerators. It allows water to flow freely through the dispensing system when the filter is not present. The bypass can fail if it becomes clogged, cracked, or falls out of alignment. A faulty filter bypass will result in leaking, poor ice production, and difficulties dispensing water. You can find the filter bypass inside the refrigerator, near the water filter housing. Disconnect the water supply lines and remove the faulty bypass. Insert the new bypass in its place and reconnect the water supply lines.

Water filter assy was broken and leaking
The repair was fairly easy, just unscrewed the lower back panel and removed the ice maker hoses. the pulled the hoses out of the interior and replaced with new hoses. After running the water for a few moments, all is well and our family has ice and filtered water again. However, be careful when you are moving the fridge out of it's original space because the kitchen floor vinal ripped and now I have to replace the kitchen floor. What would have cost me about $40 to repair is now going to cost me much more.

Basic Filter Water Replacement
First I located the filter on the the unit, (luckily it was right up front so I didn't have to move the unit), then I placed a towel down under where the filter would travel when it was removed from the unit, just to catch the water that was still in the filter itself, (no need to turn the water off at the valve for this particular unit) I gripped the front of the filter and turned it counter clockwise about a quarter of a turn and slid the filter straight out, then I removed the thumb screw attachment on the end of the old filter and placed it on the new filter, (this is done by sliding the unit to one end or the other), then I removed the protective cap from the opposite end of the filter and discarded it, then I slid the new filter into place (lining it up until it goes all the way in and turned it clockwise that same quarter of a turn.

The water filter inlet tube cracked
Begin by turning off the water source from the wall, next using a line wrench, remove the brass water line fitting nut from the copper water line from the wall. Next remove the second water line from the plastic push fitting by depressing the fitting to release the water line. Remove the Styrofoam insulation piece that resides between the water lines that run into the refrigerator, then pull the old filter head out. Reverse steps for installation.
