Trash Compactor Drive Gear Kit
Removed the drive gear and the washer.
Used a nail to drive out the pin for the smaller drive gear kit. Removed and replaced with new, used new pin to lock it on to the shaft. Changed out the bearings and washers on one powerscrew, put chain back on. Then was then a simple matter to put the new gear back on the chain then slide the whole thing back on the drive shaft. Replace the washer then slip the split ring back in place and seat it home with the pliers. Greased chain, gear drive and powerscrew. Put all covers back on with the screws. Pushed button it worked. This is the drive gear kit for the ram that compacts the trash inside your compactor. If your compactor ram is getting stuck, there is excess noise during its cycle, or if your compactor does not stop at the end of its cycle, the driving gear may be the issue. The gear is white, plastic and approximately 4.5 inches in diameter. This drive gear kit includes both gears, pin spring, retaining clip (c-ring), ram stop, ram cam, and instructions. Make sure to disconnect the power to your trash compactor before beginning the repair.

locking nut was stripped
After calling a repair man and being told my appliance was to old for him to repair I discovered your website. I simply entered the model number and a picture of the part I was looking for was easily found. I ordered online and received the replacement parts 5 day's later. I simply swapped out the old locking nuts with the new ones from your website and the repair was complete. What could have been an easy $100 repair cost a fraction of that and the trash compactor is working just fine.

Trash Compactor Power Nut
PartSelect Number PS11744741
Manufacturer Part Number WP777533
This part is a power nut, and it is intended to be used in conjunction with trash compactors. The function of this nut is to fasten to the side of the ram where it is threaded. When the power screw rotates, it is fed through the power nut, which pulls the ram down to compress the trash. This part is just over an inch in diameter, and is just one inch thick. This part is white and made entirely of plastic. The reason for needing to replace this part is if your compactor ram gets stuck, or if it does not stop at the end of the compacting cycle.

Compactor out of line and would not shut off.
Pulled compactor out on a piece of cardboard. Used socket set to take top off and evaluate the problem. Power nut was not holding on one side. We ordered two power nuts. Decided to repair only the unlevel side. Fast and easy and cheaper than a new compactor. Whirlpool compactor is 28 years old and working like a charm. Thanks for the diagram and accessibility to parts.
