This light bulb is located on the inside of your microwave. The bulb is behind the top grill. It will need to be replaced when it has burnt out and no longer works. Unplug the unit before beginning this repair. Remove the top grill of your microwave, use your screwdriver to open the light socket, scrape off any silicone holding the bulb in place, clean the area of any oil and dirt, insert the new bulb into the socket without touching the bulb, slide the holder back into place, line up the tabs on top of the metal plate, and secure the holder back into place.

Lens cracked and bulbs burned out
First I removed the single screw holding the lens assembly in place. Then I lowered the assembly and tilted it until it came out. To remove the existing cracked glass lens there were four tabs bent down on it. By hand I lifted each tab just enough to remove the broken lens. I then replaced the broken lens with the new one and re-bent the tabs down by hand to secure them to the new lens.

The lens assembly, now removed, revealed the cavity that contained the two halogen bulbs. Since they were both burned out for days, they weren't hot so I could pull each one out by hand. The bulbs are secured by two straight heavy gauge wire leads and provided a little resistance but come out fairly easily. Make a mental note of the angle they came out so it will be easier to replace them with new ones.

You're not supposed to touch halogen bulbs with your bare hands, so I used the bubble wrap they came in as a means to hold the bulb while installing it.

Be sure to insert the bulbs at the same angle they came out so the pins do not get bent.

Once both bulbs are in place, replace the lens cover assembly by putting the end opposite where the screw hole goes in first on the right, then swing it up until flush and screw it down. Read more...

Halogen bulb beneath microwave lighting the stovetop burned out after 9 mo.
Unscrewed the light cover beneath the microwave with a phillips head screwdriver. The bulb is very tiny and has 2 straight parallel prongs that slide into 2 small holes. Grab bulb from both sides with each hand firmly and slide STRAIGHT out (no twisting or pushing). Don't worry about breaking even though it may take a fair amount of pressure to pull out. New bulb arrived within a couple of days. Due to high shipping cost, suggest buying 2 or more bulbs at once. Bulb is often used as a kitchen night light so that is probably why I only got 9 months out of it. Read more...

This incandescent lamp is sourced from the original manufacturer, for use in microwaves and ovens. It illuminates the interior of the appliance cavity allowing you to view the food as it cooks or heats. It is typically located behind a panel or a cover inside the microwave/oven. Like any light bulb, the lamp can simply burn out over time. However, it is also possible that the lamp socket or wiring may be damaged resulting in an electrical failure. Before beginning any replacement, ensure that the appliance is unplugged. Remove the old lamp from its socket and inspect the assembly to ensure it is in good condition. Insert the new lamp in the socket and make sure it is seated correctly before repositioning the panel/cover. Plug the appliance back in to verify that the new lamp is functioning.

Interior bulb was burned out, turntable internal gear was stripped, and turntable ass'y wheel kept falling off
Motor was simple. Just snip out the bottom cover plate, disconnect the electrical connector, and unscrew the motor. Reverse to reinstall new motor. Rotate the cut out cover plate 180 degrees, fit tabs through slots, and screw back into place.

The bulb replacement required the side/top/side shell be removed. Only surprise was that some of the attachment screws were tamper-proof torx, so I had to buy a set of tp torx bits to take it apart. They are readily available online for < $10 for a set. They look like a standard torx bit, but with a small hole drilled into the center to accommodate the tamper-proof pin.The bulb assembly has a roughly diamond shaped attachment flange, and you need to use a screwdriver to press plastic spring tabs at each end to release the bulb. light burned out under the microwave.
Well first of all I thought I ordered the wrong light so I called and ordered the Halogen light. When the Light came in I went to change it out and realized the first bulb I ordered was the correct one. The Parts select customer service was extremely helpful and made my mistake easily resolved. At any rate, changing the bulb was a piece of cake! Just unscrew the plate (1 screw) and take out the old bulb screw in the new one. Presto, it was done. However my glass cover plate for the light somehow broke, so I ordered a new one with the help of customer service. I replaced the plate which only took about 5 mins. To replace the plate you just unscrew the one screw and on the metal frame the glass plate sits on a metal frame which has prongs that you pullup and then slide the glass out. Once the glass is out you slide the new one up and push down the prongs. Lift the frame back up and screw it in. Read more...
