General Electric Refrigerator Dispenser Door Solenoid Assembly
This was a simple fix. The solenoid had stopped working, so it would not automatically close the door flap. I read some posts on this site that suggest that you had to remove the trim around the entire dispenser to get at the solenoid. My fridge may be a newer model, but in any event it was much easier than that. Just below the touch pad for choosing water, ice, or crushed ice (above where the ice/water dispenses) there are three very small holes spaced about an inch a part. After unplugging the fridge, I stuck a small philips-head screw driver in each, freeing spring clips. That allowed the touch pad to come off. I then removed four screws to remove a plastic piece covering the chute, giving me access to the flap and solenoid. I just unplugged the solenoid from the circuit board on the back of the touch pad and then removed three screws to remove the old solenoid. I replaced it with the new solenoid and plugged it into the circuit board. The touch pad then snapped back into place.
The hardest part was figuring out how to get at the solenoid. After I found that pushing the clips in those three holes allowed me to remove the touch pad, it could not be any easier. Read more...

General Electric Refrigerator Dispenser Door Assembly or Flapper
PartSelect Number PS964304
Manufacturer Part Number WR17X11653
This “Dispenser Door Assembly” (Door Recess Assembly, Ice Door Assembly, Dispenser Door, Refrigerator Dispenser Ice Chute Door Kit, Dispenser Door Flap, Ice Chute Door, Flapper) keeps the room air from infiltrating the freezer. Once the lever is pressed, the door flap opens and allows the ice to dispense into your container. If your door flapper is broken, it could allow outside air to enter the freezer and alter the inside temperature. You may notice frost buildup surrounding the dispenser area. The door flap can disconnect from the dispenser lever, or the tabs that hold it in place may break. Frequent use may distort the sealing face and cause air leaks and frost buildup. This part mounts in the ice dispenser, and measures approximately 3.25 inches in diameter. It is constructed of plastic and rubber, and comes in white/black. This part is sold individually.

ALBERT from RALEIGH, NC
Our Ice Damper was warped, which let warm air into the freezer and caused frost to form. Also, our ice and water dispensers stopped working.
Swapping out the ice dispenser damper door was pretty easy- just used a combination of screwdrivers to remove the dispenser assembly, popped the old damper off, put the new damper on. Replacing the control board was only a bit more complicated- unplugged the fridge, removed the control board metal cover (beware the somewhat sharp edges), unhooked all the cables from the board, used needle-nose pliers to pinch each plastic spacer/fastener as to not damage them while removing the old board, mounted the new board where the old board was, and plugged in all the cables (they were all different enough from each other that I didn't have any trouble figuring out where they were supposed to connect). I now have my fridge plugged into a surge protector- hopefully that will protect this new board I've installed. Thanks a bunch,PartSelect.

Water actuator broke
If you think you probably can't do this, you're like me... but you just had to try because you needed the part anyway right? This really was quite simple, a lot easier than it sounds from the description and saved me probably $75 I'd have had to pay a tech to do it. Just unplug fridge, yank that water spill tray out, yes yank, it's a bit hard to do that if you've not done it before. After that remove the 3 phillips head screws you just gained access to. Lift panel frame up then out. Disconnect wire harness plug and set that frame aside. Take out next screws exposed to free the unit. Tilt unit out and remove the two little screws and shims holding actuator in place. Remove broken one. Put new one in. Reverse all actions taken thus far. Plug fridge back in and have a drink of water like nothing ever happened. : ) You can do this!

The Water - Ice selector buttons broke - plastic
Remove two Phillips screws under the edge, slide panel up. Undo two plug in connectors. Remove printed circuit board. Install circuit board into new part and reconnect plugs. Spend the next hour trying to get the panel to slide into place. The new part is molded plastic and does not fit the fridge front and I had to spend hours sanding and trimming the new T slides to fit the metal female T slide receptacles. Unfortunately, the new part does not seem to be an improvement of the old part, so use the buttons VERY carefully as I suspect they will also fail in the future and this plastic replacement part is very expensive.

The actuator arm broke on the unit and it had to be replaced
The actuator arm was the only part that was a little difficult. The drip tray and the kick plate went on very easily. First, we went online to your schematic on the unit. This showed how it was assembled and how it came apart. We then terminated the power to the refrigerator, and removed the drip tray which exposed two screws holding in the face plate for the ice/water on the door of the refrigerator. We then removed three screws from the control panel and pulled it forward. This exposed the actuator and two more screws that held it into place. We removed them and unplugged the small plug giving power to the actuator. We then installed the new part and replaced all the screws that had been removed. We reassembled the face plate and the screws there and then snapped in the drip tray. When we turned on the power everything worked fine.
