DIY Frigidaire Refrigerator Repair
Most Frigidaire refrigerator issues are simple to troubleshoot and fix. We are here to help walk you through the process of identifying the problems and figuring out what parts you need to fix them. These solutions are easy DIY tasks that anyone can tackle. Your Frigidaire refrigerator will be up and running in no time.
Noisy Frigidaire Refrigerator – Have you noticed new or increasing buzzing, humming, clicking, and knocking noises coming from your Frigidaire refrigerator? There is no need to worry, these are common noises with simple fixes. There are many moving parts in your Frigidaire fridge, such as the condenser fan motor and evaporator fan motor, and friction and wear over time might lead to loud noises. You will need to pay attention to where the noise is coming from, and what it sounds like. For example, a scraping sound is caused by one of the internal fans brushing up against something as it spins. If you hear rattling check that your fridge is level, and the drain pan is secure. A mild humming noise is normal, but if you notice an increased humming sound, the compressor might be overworked.
Leaking Frigidaire Refrigerator – Water leaking from a fridge is not uncommon, and it is nothing to panic over. As you start troubleshooting the problem you are going to want to figure out where the water is pooling and look for any indications of how the water got there, for instance, is there condensation dripping? Is there any ice build-up that could be melting? You are also going to want to inspect your door gaskets and seals. If the door is not completely sealed that will not only lead to condensation but it will also overwork your fridge and lead to bigger issues. If you have ruled that out you should also check water inlet valves, water lines, and the ice maker.
Frigidaire Refrigerator Will Not Run – If you cannot hear your Frigidaire refrigerator running, that can be worrying as it might not be cooling properly. This does not always indicate there is a big problem, many parts contribute to the monitoring of the internal temperature and communication with the control board. If any of those parts are not working properly it could lead to the compressor not running. The most common issues are with the start capacitor, overload, temperature control, or control board. So, we recommend you start by checking those, and if you have ruled them out the issue may be with the compressor itself.
Frigidaire Icemaker Not Making Ice – If the icemaker in your Frigidaire refrigerator is not making ice you are going to want to ensure there is enough water being supplied to the tray to make the ice. Before you start looking for issues with the water supply you should inspect the bail arm in the icemaker. When it is engaged it indicates the ice bin is full, so the maker does not need to produce more ice. If the bail arm is stuck in that position the icemaker will not make ice. If you’ve ruled that out you can then move on to inspecting the water line, water inlet valve, and the water filter. Checking these parts is a simple process, and it will help you identify any water supply issues.
Frigidaire Refrigerator Too Warm – If your Frigidaire refrigerator is not cooling properly and you have noticed it is too warm, it does not automatically indicate there is an issue with the control board. It could be something as simple as not having your Frigidaire fridge properly stocked. If that is not the issue, we recommend you ensure that air is circulating properly within the appliance. To do that you want to make sure the air damper or baffle is undamaged and unblocked; that is how cool air gets into your fridge. If there is no problem there you should then look at the evaporator fan, condenser fan, and the temperature sensor.
