Product Description

Suspension Rod Kit Specifications

This suspension rod kit is a genuine OEM replacement kit that is compatible with various models of washing machine. The kit is responsible for supporting the inner tub of the washing machine and absorbing any excessive vibrations and movement caused during the washing and spinning cycles. This helps to protect the tub and interior of the washer from damage. If the suspension rods in your washer are faulty, you will likely notice loud banging, knocking, or scraping sounds as the tub makes contact with the washer cabinet. Each kit includes four suspension rods and springs as well as the suspension ball cups. It is advised you replace all suspension rods at the same time, as they tend to wear at similar rates.

I couldn't have done the job without the video or a helper. Replacing the first rod was a struggle but once we figured it out, the rest were easy.

Washer was bouncing everywhere
Unscrewed the screws. Lifted the top and supported it. Took back off washer also. Had someone help "recommend ". Was fairly easy to remove old and replace the new suspension. Old springs were wore out. New ones work perfect.

Replacing shock absorbers on Maytag washer
Used video provided, but while reinstalling shocks pull the shock absorbers thru holes in washer deck using a stiff wire or a metal coat hanger will also work. This made installation so much easier!

Washer wobble during spin cycle.
Watched a video to get a general idea. Moved washer to garage. Raised lid, supported with s-hook and light chain. Front springs were easy, except no hole for the rod to hang in so used chain and small screwdriver through mounting hole. Back springs were not as easy. Finally removed the back panel to get to the rods. Bingo, much easier and only took 5 min to remove the back panel. reassemble and she works like a charm. Suggest to find a video reflecting your particular brand and model as all are similar but uniquely different. Easy project though.

My Whirlpool washer shakes violently while spinning. Could the suspension rods need replacing if none are broken?
For model number WTW5000DW2
PartSelect logo
Hello Timothy, Thank you for your inquiry. There may be other damage to them, so we would recommend replacing them. We would also recommend checking the tub wear pads, the drive hub and the drive pulley. Also make sure that the leveling legs are evenly balanced and that the washer load is balanced and not overloaded. Hope this helps.

The washing machine still hits the sides of machine even after I replaced the suspension rods on my Whirlpool washer. Any suggestions what the problem might be? Thanks

Hi Stanley, Thank you for contacting us regarding this situation. If the tub in your washer is still hitting the sides of the washer, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the suspension rod supports, the drive pulley and the belt. I hope this helps.
