What causes the defrost drain to freeze which then causes defrost water to spill into the bottom of the refrigerator?
For model number GFSS6KKYCSS
PartSelect logo
Hi Henry, thank you for reaching out. The defrost drain freezes due to water dripping off of evaporator coils and begins to freeze again before making its way through the defrost drain. The ice buildup then blocks the drain hole. Due to this, the water will overflow the drain trough and drip down to the bottom of the compartment. To fix the issue, we suggest cleaning the drain hole and checking that the defroster heater clip, part number PS2340404, is properly installed. We hope this solves your problem!

Water line will freeze in the refrigerator but not in the door how can i fix the problem.
For model number GFSS6KKYCSS
PartSelect logo
Hello Tyrone, Thank you for your question. Our sources suggest replacing the water inlet valve under part PS2374812 for your model to fix the water lines issues. Its possible that the water isn't flowing fast enough to reach the dispenser from the water valve and it is freezing midway because of it, thus the valve would be defective. We hope this helps.

Vegetable/produce drawer won't slide open
For model number GFSS6KKYCSS
PartSelect logo
Hello Mike, thank you for your question. We would recommend inspecting the rollers, slides and frame to see where the issue is. If the drawer will not open, there could be something broken or out of place which would prevent this from opening and closing properly. I hope this helps.

where does the top light gets its power from ?
For model number GFSS6KKYCSS
PartSelect logo
Hello Andre, thank you for reaching out. Based on our research, the upper light in the freezer gets power from the control board which is controlled by the door switch states. When the door is open, the control board sends a voltage signal and the light turns on. While, when the door is closed, the light gets off from the control board. Please submit a new question if you have any follow-ups!

Installation Video Incorrect
The installation video notes that the door mullion spring has a bent end, and that the bent end of the spring is to be inserted into the LOWER hinge. However, on my refrigerator door, the bent end of the door mullion spring must be inserted into the UPPER hinge in order for the door to function properly. (Also noted that in your video the installer manually closed the door mullion rather than just closing the refrigerator door, another indication that the installation of the spring was incorrect.) After watching the video several times to confirm I was installing the door mullion spring according to the video instructions, I tried inserting the bent end of the door mullion spring into the upper hinge, which proved to be the correct installation of the door mull spring. What should have been a 5 minute repair turned into an ½ hour repair.

The French swing part of the door would not go back where it needed to. I had to put it back in place with my hand.
I just replaced the broken spring and the little plastic cylinder that goes over the end of one part of the spring. I placed the plastic part on first and slid it in place, then had to bed the other end of the spring a little bit to place it in the hole. But once it went in, the door worked perfectly. And I'm a 70 yr old woman. So if I can do it, anyone can.
