Lawn Boy String Trimmer Spring-Compression
PartSelect Number PS9099899
Manufacturer Part Number 73-8270
This compression spring, also known as a coil spring, is an authentic manufacturer replacement part designed for use in string trimmers. It has tightly wound coils that wrap around the trimmer line spool in the trimmer head assembly. The compression spring helps to keep the trimmer spool under tension. When the trimmer head and spring is pushed upward, the spool rotates and releases new string to replace worn down string. Over time the spring will rust or become damaged due to excessive stress. A faulty compression spring will result in difficulties feeding a new line. You will also notice that the trimmer will have reduced cutting ability. To access the faulty spring, you may need to disassemble the trimmer head assembly. Carefully unwind the coils to release the tension and pull the spring off the line spool. Place the new spring on the line spoil and tightly wind the coils until it is at the desired tension level. Reassemble the trimmer head assembly to complete your repair.
